Ryan Long inspected both of my HVAC units and only found small adjustment that needed to be made. The adjustments were made to keep these units running efficiently and for many more years to come. He also replaced four of the air filters with filters I had on hand. I am very satisfied with the work that was done and the curtesy Ryan showed me and my dogs.

This company has gone down hill and might be rock bottom. On the last visit which was a furnace tune-up, they did the work (not sure how well) and presented my wife with thousands of dollars of recommended repairs and upgrades. The list was ridiculous and included things that only they could have caused (like crimped wiring inside the unit when it wasn’t mentioned when they came in March nor any of the other times they came and they’re the only ones to access that compartment in the last eight years). My wife called me and we declined the additional services and the technician left.
When I returned home after about a week, I found an absolute mess: the furnace room door was off its hinges, there was a furnace filter propped next to the furnace, and general disarray in the space. I went to work trying to clean things up and discovered that the problems were even worse than I expected. Not only was the door of its hinges, it had actually been broken. The technician didn’t even mention it, let alone offer to fix it. The furnace filter that was propped by the furnace was mangled and torn and plastic packaging (like from a new filter) was stuffed inside it. We figured out that the one leaning there was the new filter I had installed about 6 weeks before (and did not need to be changed) and the plastic was from the spare I keep on hand. It’s a tight squeeze to get the filter in and out and requires care not to damage it. Clearly the technician wasn’t careful and simply ripped it out of its housing. Again, no mention of this from the technician and no offer to replace what he ruined.
Upon further inspection, I found that one of the seals around the PVC pipe that delivers air to the unit was not in place. I went back and looked at the pictures from the previous service (in March) and it was properly seated, which makes me question whether the technician knew what he was doing or cared at all to do the job right. I’ve canceled my service contract with Western Heating and will never utilize their services again. I’d caution you against using them as well.
Frequently Asked Questions About Western Heating & Air Conditioning
What is the average cost for HVAC repair service?
HVAC repairs generally cost between $150 and $500, with an average cost of $350 for common repairs. Larger repairs, like replacing evaporator coils, could run you over $1000. For particularly expensive HVAC repairs, you may want to weigh the pros and cons of replacing your system rather than repairing it.
How often should I have my HVAC serviced?
Most HVAC manufacturers recommend that you get both the heating and air conditioning components of your HVAC system serviced once a year. They do, however, recommend that the two parts be completed at different times. You should get the air conditioner serviced in the spring and the heater serviced in the fall.
Why is my home AC system not cooling my house in Utah?
First, make sure the thermostat is set to “cool” and that the desired temperature in this room is lower than the present one. Try replacing the batteries if it doesn’t work, especially if the thermostat screen is not functioning. Then, the circuit breaker should be adjusted correctly. An interior and an exterior breaker are common features of circuit breakers. Verify that the switch’s settings are all correct.
Remove anything blocking the unit’s ventilation. Heat cannot be removed from your house because a clogged air filter restricts airflow. Additionally, unclean air filters lead to exceedingly poor indoor air quality. So try changing the filter if your air conditioner isn’t cooling.
What would cause my home AC unit not to kick on in Utah?
Your air conditioner might not switch on due to a number of thermostat problems. Disconnected or damaged cables are among the most prevalent issues. Your air conditioner won’t operate if the wires are frayed, disconnected, or unclean.
A broken thermostat is another frequent issue. The thermostat won’t enable the air conditioner to turn on if it has a problem. It’s critical to replace your thermostat as soon as possible if you’re having issues with your AC.
Is it okay to use store-bought drain cleaners?
You should never use store-bought drain cleaners for your clogged drains because the chemicals are too harsh and could damage your pipes. A professional plumber can clear your clogged drains quickly and safely.
How do you keep your pipes from freezing?
You can prevent frozen pipes in the winter by keeping your faucets at a steady drip, keeping your heater above 60 degrees Fahrenheit and opening the cabinet doors under your sinks.
How often should my HVAC unit be serviced near Lehi?
It’s essential to have your HVAC system regularly inspected and tuned up twice a year to prevent serious issues. It is recommended to schedule this tune-up in the spring before the cooling season begins and in the fall to ensure it’s ready for the heating season.
Why isn't my home heating system warming up my house near Orem?
Your air filter is most likely the culprit behind your lack of heating because they becomes clogged over time.
Typically, the air filter for the heater also serves as the filter for the air conditioner. The filter might be clogged after running the air conditioner for several months. The heater won’t be able to heat and distribute the same volume of air if it can’t draw enough air through the filter.
Replace the clogged filter with a new one and keep replacing it every one to three months as necessary.
How do I know if it's time to replace my furnace?
There are several signs that your furnace is on its way out, including:
1. Unusually high costs for heating: If maintained yearly, a furnace should retain about 95% of its initial energy efficiency for the final two years of its useful life. The furnace will likely fail after 15 to 20 years and lose efficiency in its last years. Repairs might only delay this; a technician can advise on whether necessary.
2. Inconsistent heating: If you notice that some of your rooms are warm while others are still chilly, the furnace is probably losing its ability to heat the space evenly. It’s time to consider a replacement if you can’t find a cause for it in the rooms themselves, like gaps around windows or other drafts.
3. Short-cycling: This happens when the furnace becomes stuck in a start-stop cycle that continues for an hour. At least 15 minutes should pass between heating cycles in a furnace before the opposite occurs. If your furnace is older, short-cycling may be a sign that your furnace will soon need replacement.
4. You never seem to warm up sufficiently: Have you ever repeatedly raised the temperature on your thermostat to warm the house? You shouldn’t need to do this unless the furnace is beginning to malfunction.
