I am extremely disappointed with how our HVAC service was handled.
A technician initially came to our home to look at our AC, but there was a yellow jacket nest near the outside unit. He understandably did not want to risk being stung and told us that once we took care of the yellow jackets, we could call back and someone would return to diagnose and repair our AC.
My husband and I took care of the nest ourselves and made sure the yellow jackets were completely gone. I called the company the next morning and was told that a message would be sent to a technician and that someone would call me to let me know when they could come back out.
After several hours with no call, I called again. Instead of helping me, the man I spoke with argued with me and insisted that because a technician had already been to our house, the service call was considered complete and there was no reason to send anyone else. I repeatedly explained that the service was NOT complete. Nothing had been diagnosed, nothing had been repaired, and our AC was still completely broken. We had paid for a service call and still didn't even know what was wrong with our system.
I called multiple times trying to get someone to come back and was met with the same attitude. I called again the following day and still could not get anyone sent out.
Finally, I gave up and had my husband call. Somehow, when he called, a technician was sent out almost immediately.
That technician was Elliott, and I want to make it very clear that absolutely none of my frustration or disappointment with this experience is directed toward him. Elliott was honestly the best part of this entire situation. He arrived quickly, was professional, kind, and understanding, and found and fixed the problem with our AC within about 20 minutes. After my family had been sitting in a nearly 90-degree house for almost a week, we were incredibly relieved to finally have someone there who listened to us, took the problem seriously, and genuinely seemed to care about getting our AC working again.
Elliott also apologized for how the situation had been handled before he arrived, even though none of it was his fault. His attitude and professionalism actually made us feel much better about the situation and helped restore some of our confidence in the company. He treated us with respect, explained what was going on, and took care of the problem quickly. We are extremely appreciative of him and the service he provided, and I would hate for this review to reflect negatively on him in any way. If anything, Elliott deserves recognition for how well he handled the situation and for turning an extremely frustrating experience into a much more positive one.
What bothers me most about everything that happened before Elliott arrived is that I called repeatedly and got nowhere, yet as soon as my husband called, the issue was handled immediately. I can't say why I was treated differently, but it certainly left me questioning whether I wasn't being taken seriously because I am a woman. Regardless of the reason, no customer should have to repeatedly argue just to receive a service they already paid for, and I should not have needed my husband to call in order for our problem to finally be addressed.
Again, I want to emphasize that Elliott was wonderful. He was professional, courteous, compassionate, and efficient, and he went out of his way to make us feel better about what had happened. Our complaint is entirely about how the situation was handled before he was sent to our home. Elliott did everything right, and we are very grateful that he was ultimately the technician who came out and got our AC working again.
Unfortunately, the way everything was handled leading up to Elliott's visit made an already stressful situation much worse. I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received over the phone, but very thankful for Elliott and the excellent service he provided once someone was finally sent to help us.
