  Building a home was always a dream for us. I spent years walking through model homes, researching builders, and imagining what our home build process would look like some day. Once we found the perfect location for our home build, we started looking for the perfect home builder to work with. After looking into most of the home builders in the Milwaukee area, UBuildIt came out as our top choice. With UBuildIt we were able to get a 100% custom home that met all of our needs and didn't come with the custom home sticker price. Their pricing is 100% transparent. I knew down to the penny exactly where our money was going throughout the build. There were no builder up-charges for higher level finishes and no pricey change orders. I also knew exactly what UBuildIt was earning from our build, that was clear from the very beginning. This structure enables them to work for you as the customer and not blind side you with a low "base" price and tens of thousands dollars in upgrades. Their process enables you to be as involved or not as you want. We opted to use all of UBuildIt's contractors and didn't provide any of our own labor in the build. We had complete control over the finances and Joe and Matt did an outstanding job at walking us through how to work with the title company and the budget spreadsheet template. When I describe the UBuildIt process to people, I would say that you are in the driver seat and they are the navigation telling you where to go. You are in control, but they are there to guide and get you to the destination in the quickest and most efficient way possible. I would 100% do this process again, and would highly recommend the UBuildIt process to anyone who wants a custom home (at a great price comparatively) and wants to be in drivers seat for the biggest investment of their lives! Of course, there were some hiccups in our build, but the team handled any problems promptly, with professionalism, and put us as the homeowner/customer first. HUGE shout out to our incredible team: Matt Badger - Our planning consultant. Matt worked with us from day 1 and was available throughout the entire build (and after). He was very prompt and very easy to work with. Frank Martinez - Our construction site consultant - Frank is the best. He kept everything on schedule, he communicated with us, he was 100% honest, and he's a great guy to work with. Joe Meyer - Joe is the owner and worked with us on the title company end and learning the budget process. Joe is awesome and passionate about the process. He was a great resource! Andrea Wagner - Andrea helped with the bidding, communicating with contractors, and was a great resource when we were submitting invoices and getting draws from the construction loan. Great communicator and very prompt at answering questions.

  Overall, I think the strengths of UBuildIt Brookfield are very knowledgeable contractors, transparency with costs, and the flexibility to choose to do work on your own. I don’t think we could have built our house for the price with any other builder and none of the other builders wanted to give us the flexibility of designing the house which was necessary for our lot. In the end, we have a house that is completely our design and it fits our lot perfectly. I wanted to wait to write a review until we had been in the house for a year because I think every builder is going to make mistakes and it’s important to know whether they will be there afterwards to help fix issues that come up. We did have some issues that came up during the build and they worked with us to resolve those. Happily, we did not have very many issues within the first year but those that arose we were able to resolve directly with the subcontractors. Most all of the subcontractors we used I would use again but one downside is that they tend to work with only a few subcontractors so when you send things out for bid sometimes you’re only getting one bid back which makes it difficult to know if you’re getting good pricing. Given they don’t build as many houses as some of the other builders, however, this seems normal. This can also pose an issue when you are trying to keep on schedule. For example, we had a subcontractor lined up to do the elevated screened in porch for us but they ghosted us and Ubuildit. To keep us on schedule, we ended up building the deck and screening it ourselves. The guys were spread quite thin when we were building but I have to say that Frank did an amazing job of keeping things moving forward. Joe is clearly passionate about his business model and he is extremely knowledgeable. It was difficult at times to get him to think outside of what they normally do but with continued requests he helped us figure out how to do some less typical things that really make the house special. Joe, I love my wall of windows and the transom between the kitchen cabinets and counter 😊 Their architect help us draw up plans based on the floorplans we designed. That got us most of the way but because we were looking for some key architectural features, we met with another architect to help us tweak our plans. After we brought those suggestions back to Joe and the group, they helped us figure out what we could reasonably incorporate. Building is definitely stressful, and building during pandemic induced supply chain issues is not for the faint of heart. Despite all of those challenges however, we now get to enjoy a house that we designed and built (literally because we chose to do a lot of the work ourselves) thanks to Joe, Frank, Matt and the rest of the crew at Ubuildit Brookfield.   My wife and I built with U Build It. I was hesitant about the process and to be honest not particularly looking forward to it. We met with Joe and Jamie and from start to finish they made the process a lot of fun. We absolutely love our house. We have been in our house almost 5 years no with no issues with the quality or workmanship. We probably wont build again but if we do we will use them.
