I had Total Comfort Solutions come out a little over 60 days ago for a furnace maintenance appointment. During that visit, the technician told me my furnace blower and vents needed to be cleaned. I took him at his word, scheduled the work, and also signed up for their maintenance plan.
Later that same week, multiple technicians came out to complete the vent cleaning and blower cleaning. They spent a long time at my house and appeared to do thorough work. I personally watched one technician remove my blower, take it out to my driveway, and hose it down. At the time, I believed the work had been done properly.
About a month later, I had my first scheduled maintenance appointment under the maintenance plan. After inspecting my furnace, the technician approached me and recommended that I have my blower and vents cleaned. I was pretty surprised and asked him if he genuinely thought they needed it. He showed me photos of a dirty vent and stated my blower was dirty.
I explained that I had just paid his company over $2,000 less than a month earlier to perform that exact service. The technician seemed caught off guard and went upstairs to inspect things further. When he came back down, he told me he could see brush marks in the vents, but that the cleaning “wasn’t done to his standard.”
At that point, I started trying to contact someone at the company about my concerns. It took numerous calls and text messages before I finally got a response. Eventually Jesse called me back and told me he had the technician in the room with him on speakerphone. He explained that the technician believed the prior work simply hadn’t been done to his standards and they wanted to offer me a “redo.”
Honestly, I found that conversation uncomfortable and unprofessional. I didn’t really want to discuss concerns about a technician while that same technician was sitting there listening on speakerphone. I agreed to the redo at the time because the situation felt awkward.
A few days later, I called back and specifically asked to speak with a different manager because I wanted to discuss the situation privately. That was over a week ago, and I still have not received a callback.
At this point, my concern is that technicians may be pressured to upsell services, even when they may not actually be necessary. I literally watched the first technician clean the blower in my driveway. I have a hard time understanding how it supposedly needed another cleaning less than a month later.
When I questioned it, it felt like the company scrambled to come up with an explanation rather than simply acknowledging the issue. Between the conflicting information, the lack of communication, and the lack of follow up, I’m left questioning whether I even needed the original service in the first place.
I spent over $2,000 with this company and walked away feeling more uncertain than confident. Based on my experience, I would recommend looking at other HVAC companies before using Total Comfort Solutions.
Edit: I am editing this review, since I am unable to reply to the owners response. I did call to resolve this, and the outcome of that is documented in the above review. Instead of taking the time to call me or reach out to me, you posted a response here with no follow up.
