This has turned into a racket. A few years ago, I spent over $30,000 with Greenwood on a new HVAC installation. Recently, we started smelling gas coming from our furnace. Puget Sound Energy (PSE) came out, inspected it, and diagnosed the problem as a faulty gas valve. I called Greenwood to schedule the repair. I figured it might cost a few hundred dollars, but it needed to be fixed. Greenwood quoted me $350 for a diagnostic visit. I explained that PSE had already identified the faulty valve, and they immediately offered to reduce the diagnostic fee to $200 so they could perform their own diagnosis. Interesting. The technician arrived and, within about five minutes, confirmed exactly what PSE had already found: a faulty valve. He then told me the good news was that the part was still under warranty because it had failed so early. He also said the replacement would only take about 30 minutes. I replied, "Great, let's do it." I was relieved that, at worst, I'd only be out the $200 diagnostic fee. Instead, I was told the repair would require a second appointment and would cost $752 to replace the warranty-covered part. After picking my jaw up off the floor, I asked what the warranty actually covered. I was told the part itself was free, but Greenwood charges $752 for the labor to replace it. I know prices have gone up, but charging $752 to replace a warranty-covered part that failed after only a few years—and that Greenwood originally installed—feels excessive. When I questioned the price, they immediately offered a "$200 discount" by applying the diagnostic fee toward the repair. Considering the diagnostic took about five minutes and simply confirmed what PSE had already diagnosed for free, that didn't feel like much of a concession. My impression is that Greenwood's pricing strategy is to quote an exceptionally high repair price and then soften the blow by offering a "discount" when customers understandably push back. I have already confirmed quotes by reputable agencies in the Seattle area for less than half this price. Unfortunately, this experience has left me feeling taken advantage of rather than taken care of.

I really appreciate their professionalism and quality of service. Mike was extremely thorough in identifying the root cause of my two-year-old compressor failure. He was honest and transparent in explaining the possible causes and the available solutions. What impressed me most was their integrity. They were the company that originally installed the system, and they didn’t try to hide the fact that part of the issue was related to the initial installation. Instead, they openly acknowledged it and offered to repair it at no cost. That level of honesty and accountability is rare these days. I highly recommend them.

The Greenwood team was exceptional. I had HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing performed by them. All 3 teams were punctual and communication was excellent and work area was left clean and as before. All old stuff was removed for disposal. The estimate process was implemented and we compared it with others and they beat everyone else on the pricing. Special shout out to the Lead Electrician Riley Gregg. His work was amazingly perfect. He navigated a tricky situation of non-standard structural stuffs and 100 yr old construction and was creative in problem solving. We loved his work and will have him come back and perform a whole house electrical upgrade. Would get him to all our electrical work. Thank you Riley.

I met with Kris a week or so ago to go over replacing my furnace and everything she promised was delivered. 10/10. If you're in Seattle go with a heat pump! No more window, plug in AC necessary. Especially if you have an old furnace. Trust me, just go with a heat pump! And use Greenwood! (I replaced my furnace and also got a heat pump). I had a 37yr old furnace, (amazing it was still alive, they built things to last!) that needed to be replaced. Luckily I ran into Kris through serendipity and knew she worked in HVAC. She went through house, explained the different options, and convinced me that a heat pump and 80% furnace would suit my needs. She was 100% correct. Professional, knowledgeable and a good saleswoman. I was skeptical, but now I'm not. She was right. Install went really well to. I want to also call out Jared whom worked around some issues I had, explained every change or mod that we needed to make and is clearly a professional based on his ducting work, angles were perfect. Knowledgeable, clear communication and worked hard to get it done. Ask for Kris and Jared, they're pros! Thank you Greenwood! Heat domes in Seattle will never worry me again!

Our experience with Greenwood Heating and Home Services was great. Our 3 year old A/C system had stopped working and the company that installed it failed to come out to do diagnostics and repair, standing us up multiple weeks in a row after setting up appointments with zero communication. Greenwood on the other hand took my call right away, clearly laid out the process and fee structure and volunteered to come out same day fur a slight up charge or next day at a discounted rate for being a first time customer. We opted for the next day service and they sent email and text notifications right after our phone call and the next day as a reminder of our 4-hour arrival window. The following day, they did a great job of communicating their status and when in that window the technician would arrive. When we were next up, the technician called and gave his ETA and they texted a tracking tool with his photo and real-time gps. Our technician (Abinesh) showed up when he said he would and was very professional, kind, and highly knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem and had the broken conductor for our A/C unit on his truck to quickly make the repair - explaining prior what the cost of the part installation would be (on top of quoted service fee agreed to initially when calling). He also performed a visual assessment of our existing high efficiency furnace and A/C unit and made a couple suggestions further maintenance and upgrades which were sent as separate optional invoices. Finally, I have not been a fan of our Nest Thermostat and asked for a recommendation of a better replacement which he was happy to give. All in all it was a great experience. Be ready for the scheduled service upsell at the end, though know that you can still pay just what was originally quoted and the price of parts installation. We did opt for paying for service and full diagnostics of our HVAC system the following.
