    Hello all, I do not recommend purchasing a home from Richmond American Homes. My experience has been extremely disappointing due to ongoing issues with poor workmanship throughout the property. From cosmetic defects to more serious construction problems, the overall build quality did not meet reasonable expectations for a new home. When I moved in, multiple basic systems were not functioning properly, including a doorbell that did not work, internet cable outlets not connected, and several electrical outlets that were non-functional. These are fundamental items that should have been fully tested prior to closing. Additional workmanship issues have become increasingly apparent. The floors squeak excessively throughout the home. There are exposed nails on the roofing that will likely rust and leak over the next 24 months. Caulking is incomplete in several areas, and exterior trim is uneven, with nail holes not filled and finishes left incomplete. Roof drainage downspouts are routed in a way that directs water onto roofing surfaces, which appears to accelerate wear rather than protect it. The roofing also includes low-quality plastic vents and plastic flashing instead of more durable metal materials. Inside the home, plumbing installation also shows poor alignment, including water pipes from the water heater that do not properly align with the drain. The toilets also produce a hammering sound when flushed. What is especially frustrating is how many of these workmanship-related issues are excluded from warranty coverage. Problems are frequently dismissed as “cosmetic” or “non-covered,” leaving the homeowner responsible for repairs and correction of construction defects that should have been addressed during construction inspections or covered under warranty. In my experience, Richmond American Homes appears to prioritize cost-cutting and profit over homeowner quality and long-term satisfaction. It feels like the focus is on building and selling homes as quickly and cheaply as possible rather than ensuring buyers—who are making a major financial investment—receive a properly finished, fully functional home. I have also been very disappointed with the overall building quality and process. In my experience, it feels like the homes are built with the lowest-cost labor available, resulting in rushed or low-quality workmanship. The model homes, in contrast, appear much better finished, which can create expectations that the delivered home does not meet in practice. This difference in presentation versus actual build quality was particularly concerning. For a large national builder, I expected a much higher level of quality control and accountability. Instead, it feels like many defects are overlooked during construction and then pushed back onto the homeowner after closing. I strongly recommend no one buy these homes, as this company is extremely unethical due to the issues mentioned above which you give the homeowner the shaft on in the end. I will never make this extremely costly mistake again and clearly Richmond American does not care about its reputation .
