Michael & Son’s has been exceptional across every service they’ve provided. Diego delivered a professional, courteous plumbing estimate and clearly knows his trade. Francisco performed maintenance and upgrades on my HVAC system and was super polite, attentive to my needs, and thoughtful in offering reasonable, cost‑efficient solutions. Dustin handled my electrical estimate with patience and expertise — even enduring my 1000 questions without missing a beat. And Edy walked me through my HVAC estimate with clarity and confidence, making every detail easy to understand. I’m genuinely impressed with Michael & Son’s and the strength of their entire team.

I had the delight of having technician Francis Simire on my call yesterday. I bought a new house and needed some electrical work on an outlet. After taking a look both in the laundry room and attic he presented me with multiple options with different price points and process. After choosing to install a new circuit and receptical he got to work. He was efficient, methodical, and professional. All while remaining personable and kind. The job extended past the allotted time frame and he continued to keep working. He finished up, cleaned his work area , reviewed what he had done and that a contractor would be following up with me and then left. He was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. They are lucky to have him. Thank you.

Michael and Son's hase so many good reviews because they ask for them from every person directly following installation, before people have the option of seeing their work fail. Last week we needed a water heater in an emergency. Assuming Michael and Son's was a licensed and insured company that would do the job right, we paid them to replace it. They charged $3200 to replace a 40 gallon water heater in our 2 year old home. Sadly, I wasn't present to verify that it was actively leaking, and I haven't been able to get the videos the technician said he took of it. After departure, we found that the new water heater was dropped flat against the floor instead of in a pan, and the drain for the pan was left sticking out of the floor unused. This is not to code, and worse than the original installation. Since the tech didn't know how to install a water heater, it also leaves me questioning whether there was even an active leak or if he just made that up. Like I said, Michael and Son's still haven't shown me the video. I wanted a purchase receipt for the water heater for warranty purposes, and an invoice breaking down parts and labor. So far, Michael and Son's has refused to issue either of these things. Michael and Son has also refused to provide a certificate of insurance, which is very concerning as that is a standard and acceptable request that contractors are usually happy to provide. I can only hope that they are ensured, with techs out in people's homes doing work like this. As things currently stand, I have a partially installed water heater installed incorrectly and dangerously in my home, at a premium full price. I've asked Michael and Son's to provide a partial refund and so far they haven't, but instead offered to send the same dude out who screwed things up in the first place, which could easily just cause more damage since he has no sense of ethics, code, or what good workmanship is. I hate leaving negative reviews, and will absolutely change the star rating and edit this if Michael and Son's reach out to me and are willing to make this right. EDIT: Michael and Sons put a comment below asking me to reach out so they can assist me. I had already reached out before they left that comment and so far they are still refusing to provide an itemized receipt, refusing to provide proof of insurance, and refusing to offer any kind of a refund for the unsafe, not-to-code, $3200 water heater replacement job.

We purchased two new units for our home. I will say that the first floor is cooling and heating fine (although our crawl space is 60 degrees in the summer, so maybe not very effective). The second floor unit cost us a fortune and has never run properly. We started on this journey in March because our a/c unit had leaked into our bedroom the previous summer and we wanted to take care of it before the busy season. We were told that the unit was near the end of its life and we agreed that a new unit would be acceptable if it would stop the leak. Also, it is dual zone and my husband’s office did not cool well. It’s a complicated system and we swallowed the steep $11k estimate and were looking forward to better performance. Fast forward to delivery day. The unit that was brought would not work with our dual zone. They had to bring a different unit (which they claimed was better). We had at least 8-10 different installers in and out of our house because they couldn’t get it to work. When they finally got the unit to work, they then couldn’t get the thermostat in my husband’s office to work. Called in more guys. They tried to get the system in the app on my phone—never worked. They said maybe give it time (never worked). When temperatures rose and we switched to a/c there was no a/c in my husband’s office. They came out and gave us a $5k estimate for more work (because I had so much faith in them ?!?!). Hubby got a window unit. When it really heated up it started leaking through the dry wall that we had repaired. They came out again. We were given an estimate for another different repair (also $5k). That would be an addition $10k after the initial $11k (plus the downstairs unit). How much were they trying to bleed us for. We had another company come and do some duct work repair for $200. Leak is gone. Our second floor does not cool as well as it did with our original unit. It’s currently 77 degrees with it set to 70. My husband’s office with the window unit is 82. I wish that we never replaced the unit because we were better off before!

This is a review of work done by Paul Cummings II for Michael and Sons, at my house in Richmond, VA. My initial interest was in getting a few light fixtures replaced and a power supply run into the kitchen for an electric stove. While preparing for this work, Paul found that there were some significant issues with the fuse box, and quoted a price for replacement. I was happy to do it - a good fuse box is the foundation of a good electrical system for a house, after all. Paul's work (and that of Tariq, who assisted on this project) was excellent, and he did a great job of explaining not just what he was doing, but why. The replacement box, new line, and replacement ceiling lights are all working quite well, and I have the peace of mind tha a skilled professional has put in high quality work on this new house. I plan to work with Paul via Michael and Sons again in future, and highly recommend him as an excellent electrician.
