James River Air Conditioning was established in the Richmond community and was built on an entrepreneurial spirit that provides world- class service with all the warmth, spirit and conviction of a locally owned and operated business. This philosophy has kept us growing since 1967. Our Residential Department specializes in home comfort systems. We service and install air conditioners, heat pumps, mini-splits, furnaces, boilers, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and air cleaners. We service all makes and models of heat pumps, air conditioners, furnaces, boilers, and indoor air quality equipment.Our Commercial Department specializes in commercial comfort systems and building automation systems. Our team of technicians service and install air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, chillers, VAV systems, cooling towers, duct systems, ventilation systems, economizers, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and air cleaners.Both our residential and commercial service departments offer a variety of preventive maintenance plans, from basic maintenance to full coverage including repair parts and labor. We also offer electrical and plumbing services, including wiring, upgrades, water heaters, backflow preventers, and medical gas piping.Our Energy Solutions Group is exploring all practical energy strategies that will make more and more sense for our clients as they seek clean, renewable, safe power that reduces our dependence on foreign oil. We provide home energy audit services and offer practical green solutions including solar, geothermal, and insulation services.

- JGJeremy Gross1 day ago5.0Jay the HVAC technician that completed the preventative maintenance at my home did an excellent job. He arrived on time, was courteous, and clearly explained each step of the inspection. He checked all components thoroughly, clean the system as needed, and verify that everything was operating efficiently before leaving. I appreciate his attention to detail and the way he took the time to answer my questions without rushing. Overall, a very professional experience and great service.
- KHKen Hein2 days ago5.0I called James River for their “free second opinion” service as I was told I needed a new compressor in my AC unit. Prior to Zach’s arrival, the James River tech, my current service company had called to inform me they would be replacing my compressor at no cost due to their error. Zach stilled looked at my unit, explained to process of replacing the compressor and did an acid test that was positive. He took additional time explaining what the test results meant and the extra steps necessary to remove the acid from all the lines. This was top notch service by a tech and company that was not making a penny from me. I was totally impressed.

One of the reasons we have stayed with this company is because of their excellent service. Whether it be annual service or a repair we have been fortunate enough to have Ryan Brooks come out to take care of us. Ryan is knowledgeable, patient, and very personable. He always explains in detail what he plans to do or has done when servicing our units. Thanks for always being there and keep doing what you do James River !

I called James River and they sent John out for a free 2nd opinion that same day. He confirmed what we suspected- the other company was drumming up unnecessary repairs and none of what they said really needed to be done was necessary. Thank you John and James River!!!

We have had ongoing issues for the past year and we were feeling helpless at this point. Donald listened to our concerns, actioned on the plans and continuously stress tested the system to ensure it was working as it should. He made us feel like we had a trusted partner who was invested in solving this issue. We are so grateful to have had him on this job!
