  Home Genius uses deceptive, high pressure sales tactics. I contacted Home Genius Exteriors due to their good ratings. They sent someone out the same day. I wanted roof repair for a leak but the salesman wanted me to get a new roof. He took lots of pictures of my home but would not give me access to them. I asked for access to the pictures and he told me the access was through him showing me. He looked at my roof from the attic but did not go onto the roof outside. He went to his car to speak with his supervisor then came back to show me the pictures of my attic and give me a quote. He told me I had two sizeable holes in my roof (showed me pictures of a hole looking out to the sky) which didnt make sense to me as I had no visible water flowing or damage in my home besides the small leak I called them to repair. He gave me a verbal quote thats was more than 2x the standard price that local contractors charge. He did not give me a written quote. I asked him how long the quote was good for and he replied, until he walked out the door. He didnt even focus on the original problem I had which was finding the actual leak. Contractors should always give you a written quote outlining the work they are doing to your home. I received a text the next week asking for feedback. They mentioned gutter service which is not the reason why they came out. I do not recommend going with this company. Or at least get other quotes before committing.

  Installed in January. 6 months later still have same problems that we complained about from day one. No inspection was made before during or after installation. All you get are excuses if and when they decide to call back. I decided to have my roof professionally installed instead I got a fly by night installation that cost an arm and a leg. I should've just done it myself and I guarantee it would have looked a million times better

  The sales rep was personable and knowledgeable, but did not use a ladder to look closely at the existing gutters. As a result, I had to authorize change orders for replacing dry rotted fascia boards and soffits and had to upsize the gutters from 5” to 6” after the installation tech determined that the original spec was inadequate for the tiled roof. My project manager, Darryl, resolved the problems and HGE ate the cost of the 5” guttering that had to be removed and upgraded. The guttering was installed properly, but the replacement soffits were installed with inadequate fasteners and began to come loose and drop almost immediately (photo). Again, Darryl authorized the crew to reinstall the soffits with screws to augment the nail gun tacks. The final job looks good and appears to be properly installed. I attribute the multiple change orders to the estimating method of using satellite photos and estimating rubrics. However, other bidders did the same, so this seems to be industry practice. This is likely fine for new builds, but for a 100 year old house, a more detailed examination is really necessary to avoid surprises and changes. In the end, though, a good job for a reasonable price and some very nice, knowledgeable, responsive, and cooperative people. I would use HGE again.
