  Our choice to use Home Genius Exteriors was the right thing to do. Nico (Naquan Jewett) was the project manager for two separate roof installations during May and June of 2026. The first was on a townhouse in Howard County, Maryland. The schedule to install was under time pressure due to pending real estate sale new roof requirements. Nico reached out by phone the evening before the installation day to introduce himself and describe the installation process very thoroughly including what his role would be to make sure that we would be informed about the project progress. Nico certainly did that and has gone above and beyond our expectations. As examples, when more underlayment wood was required due to unexpected water damage, Nico sent us pictures of the damage and called to explain that he would get the extra wood and keep the project on schedule. Once that was done, we shared that the buyer’s loan approval required that a screw in a vertical slat in the balcony bannister needed to be resecured before the next day roof and balcony inspection. We had not been able to find a person on short notice to get that done in time. Nico was kind to quickly reconnect that one slat and a couple more that he noticed were becoming loose. That made it possible for the inspection to be on time and successful. Nico worked in our best interest every step of the way by sending before, during, and after pictures and calling to explain and answer our questions. We were involved and felt secure that the work was being done well and on time in Nico’s hands. On our second roof replacement project in Old City, NW, DC that was just finished days ago, we requested that Nico be assigned and he was. This project was to replace what might have been an original (1800’s) damaged metal roof with new improved products (TPO) and processes that corrected the pitch of the original roof to ensure the best drainage. The roof was two parts -a two story metal section and a one story shingle section. Once again, due to projected heavy rain and record heat, Nico lead the complete tear off and replacement in astounding time even when there were no exterior electric sockets installed in our or 99% of adjacent homes. Nico was able to order and supply a generator for the nail guns to work and to get additional dry wood when wood rot was discovered during tear off. Meanwhile, that preparation work was happening and Nico was keeping us informed each step of the way with pictures and explanations. At completion of the installation, Nico sent 20+ pictures and called to walk us through the pictures and show us damage and perfect repair. Nico had again given us a very successful installation experience and the assurance that we have a safe roof and a lifetime warranty that correct installation makes possible. Nico knows his project manager position extremely well and is aware that project modifications with owner collaboration are essential to excellent, well executed project management and informed and satisfied owners. Nico was efficient, respectful, knowledgeable, patient, and aware of details that most might ignore. I recommend Home Genius Exteriors and Nico as project manager to all homeowners. They coordinate seamlessly from first meeting and project inspection to ensure that the project is completed perfectly and on time. Thank you, Dr. Kelly

  Very transparent transaction. Extremely rapid turn-around in scheduling, executing and completing the work. They use high quality materials and have an excellent warranty. The work crew was polite, dedicated and considerate, and cleaned up afterward quite well. Overall, an A+ and I would highly recommend Home Genius Exteriors.

  Home genius helped my elderly mother get a new roof after she found a leak. Isaac and his team were extremely considerate and helping us through the negotiation process. Ultimately, they were able to complete the entire roof in one day with a three-man crew. They show pictures of the before and after and I can see that they did a quality job. I would recommend home genius.

  I intended to spend thousands of dollars with this company to have them do the siding on my home, but since I could not make the schedule work with my wife, they refused to book an estimate. Neither of the associates could tell me the reason. Also, it took the first associate almost 10 minutes to pull up his calendar. Oh, then I received a flurry of AI text and calls. I will do everything in my power to make sure others, especially veterans, use a different service. They must have a lot of business to pass on some more. Good for them.

  There are 2 parts to my review. Part I, quite simply, if you are quickly skimming for roofing contractors, then I recommend HGE strongly. You won't be disappointed with the finished product. Part 2 is more in-depth and for those that really read into a company. I have a 1930s bungalow and it is not a straight forward house; Ventilation issues, old cement-board siding, and NO insulation. That is the project site. Now, for HGEs approach to my problem: First is the sales experience. It is the worst part of the experience. They use a hard sales tactics intended to close a contract in that one visit. My wife sat in another room because she hates the rhetoric of close close close. I stuck with it because I wanted to know what the final offer was. But you have to be prepared for this, and the best offer doesn't walk back in on a follow up visit. As a point of fact, the sales person said that they are only permitted one visit to a potential customer. That was challenging. However, their salesperson was knowledgeable and did present the attributes of the company very well. Well enough that I cancelled two other estimates that I had lined up. This was not the lowest price either. But the workmanship and product warranties were the best. Granted, they just wrapped up yesterday, but I do believe that I have purchased the last roof I will need to buy for this house. But if you hate negotiating and the stero-typical hard sell...this is the hardest part of the experience. But if you want the cheapest roof, then you probably aren't going to be looking at a 5-Star company like HGE to begin with. Now, the icing on the cake; the production side of the job. Absolutely stellar. Immediate confirmation and thorough communication. There was a significant concern regarding the initial ventilation solution that we had purchased and Drew Van Hook came to me on a Sunday, their non-production day, and talked the issue through with me. It was great to get reassured in such a manner that my decision was the right one. The communications leading up to the project start date were reliable. Crews arrived when stated, took good care of my extensive landscape and cleaned up thoroughly. Not perfectly, but if you expect a perfect cleanup from a roofing job, you aren't being realistic with yourself. The finished product, OC architectural shingles and the associated ventilation, flashing, edge treatments, the whole project makes an immediate impact. I am smitten with new look to our house. I will say this; I wish I had more houses so that I could hire them again.
