We’ve used Michael & Son several times over the years, so this experience was especially disappointing.
Less than a month ago, we paid almost $300 for Michael & Son to unclog a toilet. Yesterday, the same toilet backed up again, despite nothing other than toilet paper being flushed.
When scheduling, I specifically told dispatch that this was a repeat of the same issue and that I did not want to pay another nearly $300 when we had just paid for the same service. I brought this concern up several times and was told not to worry about it and to make sure I discussed it with the technician.
Our appointment window was 1–3 PM. Due to an issue with the technician’s truck, he arrived around 7:15 PM. They did keep us somewhat updated, and things happen, so the delay isn’t my main complaint.
I also want to be clear that our technician was very nice, respectful, professional, and knowledgeable. My disappointment is with how the situation was handled overall.
I again explained the previous service and my concern about paying another $300. We were then told the toilet should be replaced because of the brand and were presented with replacement options around $1,200–$1,300, with the lower price tied to a monthly membership.
We were told the existing toilet would be unclogged at no additional charge if we purchased the replacement. If we didn’t, it would be another $291 to unclog it, or we could pay the service-call charge and still be left with a clogged toilet.
By then it was after 7 PM and we needed the toilet working, so we paid the $291.
We’ve now paid Michael & Son close to $600 in less than two months to unclog the same toilet twice, with the visits actually occurring less than a month apart.
I understand that plumbing problems can recur and that the toilet may ultimately need replacement. What I don’t understand is why a repeat issue occurring only weeks after the previous service wasn’t first considered as a possible callback, warranty/service-guarantee issue, or at least taken into consideration before charging us full price again—especially after I had specifically raised that concern several times.
I realize I may be asked to call the company to discuss this review, but I already communicated these concerns before and during the service visit. I don’t feel another phone call should be necessary to explain the same concerns again.
If Michael & Son reviews what happened and feels this should have been handled differently, I’m certainly open to them contacting us.
The technician was great. The overall customer experience was not. After being a repeat customer, I genuinely expected better.

I had a great experience with Jeromy and Hunter from Michael & Sons. They were both professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything clearly. They arrived on time, worked efficiently, and did a great job making sure everything was taken care of properly.
I really appreciate their attention to detail and excellent customer service. Jeromy and Hunter are a great team, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of reliable plumbing services!

Our attic fan quit working about a month ago. It was installed in May of last year. I called the company that installed it to fix it. That well known company was pathetic in response - over 4 weeks, two failed to show without calling; one visit to say it was burnt out and needed replacing; a quote of over $1,100 to replace; then a call to reschedule the day it was supposed to be installed. I cancelled with them and called Michael and Son.
What a great experience! A technician, Standitch, arrived as scheduled two days later. He quickly assessed the problem, gave me a price to replace the fan - $566, scheduled us for two days later to install the new fan, then arrived timely to do the job.
Standitch was very personable and professionally friendly. I am very impressed with Michael and Son! It’s our first experience with this company and it won’t be our last!

I requested an estimate online for a few home renovation projects I have stacked up. I was able to speak with someone same day to schedule and estimate visit for a new AC-unit and a new, larger and more efficient hot water heater. I was able to get a visit scheduled for the exact date and time I wanted, and both visits were on the same day (about an hour apart from each other).
William, from the Heating and Cooling team, came out first, was very thorough in talking through the project, and gave me a easily readable estimate with options.
Then, Samuel with the Plumbing team came and gave the estimate for the hot water heater. Again, very professional, informative, and gave me a great overview of the entire project and gave a few options.
We will definitely be moving forward with both projects. Thanks William and Samuel! You both made things super easy to decide on a path forward!

This your sign to get a 2nd option from this company. I had a technician do maintenance on my hvac system July 24th, didn’t mention any issues and claimed to fully inspect coolant and all that. Maybe a week later my outdoor unit was tripping every 4 seconds and ac wasn’t cooling my house. Same guy came back Aug 7th and couldn’t figure the issue out and said a senior tech needed to look at it and they would schedule it but I ended up having to call and remind them after 4 days of no confirmation. We had to wait until Aug 20th for reinspection while my house was getting to 80 degrees every day as we kept the unit off most of the time to save my capacitor. Senior tech claimed it was the TXV that needed to be replaced but they recommended replacing the whole hvac unit since it seemed old. My hvac unit is only 6 years old and it doesn’t even have a TXV, it has a piston! This company seems like they just want money and don’t have the knowledge they claim to have so be careful if you go with these guys. Ended up going with another company and it turns out my system just had too much coolant which was causing too much pressure. Easy simple quick fix that this company could not identify. Waste of $169 inspection fee which is advertised as $69
