  When our AC suddenly stopped working we called Choice Home Warranty who sent out their technician who first claimed it was refrigerant problem, added refrigerant, and then our entire system broke. They then quoted us $11,000 and were not even willing to cover half. We asked a few different HVAC companies and even family and friends and all the quotes were for $5,000+ suggesting we replace the entire evaporator or the entire condenser. Some even suggested there were leaks in our copper piping. However, when James from Sun AC came by, we thought this was our final opinion. He was incredibly thorough, documented everything extraordinarily well, and was incredibly friendly. From his demeanor we were ready to accept the $5,000+ quote from him, but to our surprise, he said it was simply a problem with the TXV. He gave his rationale for it saying the compressor was looking good, the evaporator is also working properly, except for a restriction at the TXV which could get someone to think it was another problem. He diligently fixed the problem incredibly quickly, gave advice on how to clean, how to replace filters, taught us about monitoring the HVAC signals like superheat and subcooling as I was curious, and told us how to adjust dampers in the vents to adjust how much cooling a specific room gets. His professionalism was unparalleled and he was also very friendly. I highly recommend James and if the other technicians are of the same caliber, Sun AC is a rare jewel where technicians pride themselves on the quality of their work rather than the sadly ever more common technician only in it for the money predating on information asymmetry with the customer suggesting things you don't need but don't know you don't need.

  James was the best service technician. He arrived and did a thorough assessment of my unit outside. He checked to see if it was the right spec for the size of my home. He then came inside to assess my unit in the attic. He was very thorough and explained everything to me as he was doing his assessment. He showed me pictures and videos to make it easier for me to understand. He did the repair work and explained all costs and gave me a clear path forward. I would recommend Sun to all my friends. I will definitely request James for future visits.
