Jacob came by and swapped out our inverter with a new/upgraded one. He took the time to ensure my Solaredge app was set up with consumption and the panel layout. I can honestly say he went the extra mile to ensure we were taken care of and I appreciate the time and effort he put in. This is what sets apart average companies to exceptional companies. They put their customers first and that goes a long way!

First, the quality of the inverter install and resulting performance is outstanding. Jacob knows his stuff and was able to answer all technical questions thoroughly. He works fast, he leaves the worksite clean and is willing to suggest improvements without pressuring. A couple of issues with the company however: during the diagnostic appointment about 2 weeks ago, it was determined my SolarEdge 3.8kw inverter was faulting due to a loose wire on a panel but was otherwise nearing end of life. It was decided to replace it at my cost versus warranty (when it died) in order to get wifi and expansion capabilities of new inverter. An appointment was made for the install. No commo on appointment with company in the interim. Day arrives and nothing. I call and was told I had wrong date…2 days hence. That day arrives-nothing. I call and was told tomorrow. Still no commo/text until day before final delay. Obviously, this is entirely unacceptable for a business. Next, I am disappointed with the prices Solar Service charges for what they provide. I paid $2k for installation of a $915 inverter that was basically plug and play with the old one. $450 for fixing the original wire problem on a roof panel that I think took about 15 minutes…and $875 for 2 trips to my house (one diagnostic trip which I was told wouldn’t be charged if I approved the work—which I did) and the 2 hour actual install trip. Lastly, I had asked in an advance email for an estimate to add a backup battery (I specified a Tesla Powerwall 3) to my existing solar system. I researched this extensively online prior to Jacob presenting their estimate so I knew the going price for this in San Antonio was in the $11k - $16k range with no discounting. Imagine my shock when presented with a $24k proposal! Tesla’s own San Antonio specific installer’s network quote covering all major components of my request was $15.5K. A closer look at Solar Service quote showed over $4k for permitting with CPS-to add a battery to a system they’ve already permitted. Labor for 3 x 2 days and basically a retail price for the hardware as they aren’t a volume dealer for power walls. This nonsensical estimate combined with the issues discussed about my actual invoice gives me pause- not with quality of their work- but with they way they price. Pricing was my profession for most of my career so maybe it’s just me. But that’s the reason for only 4 stars.

Had Solar Service for a few years until recently they just dropped me off their service. Right before I got dropped they installed a critter guard. When the new company went to clean my solar panels they noticed that a squirrel made a nest and was able to push thru the critter guard. They showed me pictures where Solar Service did not space their brackets 6-8 inches all around, which left the guard vulnerable. It is under warranty since it's only been 10 months. The problem now is they are hard to reach and when I did reach them, they scheduled an appointment that they never showed up too. Now I'm waiting on the manager to call me which they probably won't. Never thought I'd get this treatment from this company. Would not recommend Solar Service due to high cost and poor quality.

In March, we had a technician from Solar Service come to our home to inspect a malfunction involving one of our solar panels, which had been installed by a different company. After receiving the diagnostic report and repair estimate, we decided not to move forward with the repair at that time.
About a month later, we decided to have another company perform the repair. When our company of choice contacted the manufacturer to obtain the warranty replacement parts, we learned that the parts had already been ordered and received by Solar Service.
Both our installer and I contacted Solar Service. We were told by an office staff member, Josie, that because the Solar Service technician had already been on our roof, he had proceeded with ordering the parts, even though we had not approved the repair. We were also told that Solar Service would release the parts to us only after we paid $432.
These were warranty replacement parts.
I subsequently emailed the CEO and COO expressing my concerns and requesting that the warranty replacement optimizers be provided without charge, since we had not authorized the repair or the parts order. I did not receive a response from either.
After several days of phone calls and text messages, I spoke with Josie again. During that conversation, she stated that she would need to verify whether Solar Service had actually received the parts.
The manufacturer had provided us with detailed information regarding the order, including the person who placed it, the date it was received, and the delivery address. According to that information, Solar Service had received the parts four days after their technician's visit to our home in March.
Shortly afterward, a Solar Service team member delivered the parts to our doorstep.
Unfortunately, the parts delivered were not the replacement parts that our manufacturer had specified for our system.
Thankfully, the company we ultimately chose to perform the repair was able to obtain the appropriate equipment and get our system up and running in June.
Based on our experience, I would recommend carefully confirming in writing what has and has not been authorized before allowing Solar Service to proceed with any repair or parts order.

We love our new system and can't wait for CPS to grant permission to upload.
The system as it is now exceeds our expectations of power generated.
The Solar Service crew kept us up dated before and during the install. They answered any questions we had and made sure we understood how each component worked in relation to the system as a whole.
