I have a Morton building that I had built on my place back in 2002 as a detached workshop. It is still a very nice looking building. I'm sharing this info to help other potential Morton building buyers from making the same mistake I made when I did not know any better back then. First, be sure to negotiate a thicker slab. Back then they only did a 4 inch slab. I think if I had a thicker slab I would not be seeing some of the settling and cracking that I am seeing now. Also if your plan happens to have a patio on it. Ask about making that part of the slab as well and not poured separately. I have some movement now on my patio slab that is separating from the siding leaving an unsightly gap. I feel like that would not have happened had they just poured one slab for the entire footprint of the building. I went for help from Morton HQ on this and they just write it off as settling and won't do anything with it. Outside of this, the building has held up pretty good. They may offer a metal frame option now instead of the wood frame. If I had to do it over again, I would go with the metal frame. With a much thicker foundation.

I'm pricing out barns and ultimately cannot afford a Morton barn. However, Ryan Alspaugh was AMAZING at helping me try to find a way to make it work. He knew it would unlikely fall in my budget but still spent the time to help me understand the process, look at various design options and point out pitfalls to watch for. Excellent customer service on his part. He was hard working, patient with my questions and a pleasure to work with.

Morton put up a horse barn/shop for us a few years back. We were so happy we had them build another barn. Great bunch of guys, top notch construction and service. Still very happy!!
