TO SUM UP THIS REVIEW, Chesmar seems to value their homeowners very little.
Before moving into my Chesmar home, I heard good things—decent houses, good build quality, good service, etc. However, I discovered that the contractors originally hired had been fired, leading to another company taking over. This resulted in numerous quality issues during my Punchlist walk (which were mostly addressed) and a sub-par warranty policy.
The primary reason for my review is the poor service from Chesmar's warranty department. I purchased a corner home, and the neighboring plots of land are still undeveloped. Due to owning a corner lot, there have been over three instances of property damage caused by contractors, including damage to my irrigation line, grass, and concrete curb. Chesmar agreed to fix the damage the first two times, which I appreciated. However, they have now stated that they can no longer assist and that I need to protect my own property.
I understand if the neighboring community were built out and occupied, but I bought my house from Chesmar, and the neighboring plots are still owned by Chesmar. It's disappointing that Chesmar will not cover damages caused by their own contractors. This situation reflects poorly on both their customer service and construction management.
To make matters worse, its in their own Warranty Book which states in section 21.A.1 "An irrigation system shall not leak, break or clog due to construction activities. If an irrigation system fails to meet the standard sated in this subsection, the builder/seller shall take such action as is necessary to bring the variance within the standard." I have included a screenshot of this warranty in the attachments.
Word of advice to potential buyers: Be cautious about purchasing a new build in a developing community, especially if you own a corner lot. Be prepared for potential property damage and to spend significant time dealing with Chesmar's warranty department.
I hope this review is helpful. Best of luck!
