I would like to share my honest experience with Chesmar Homes because customer feedback is important, especially when making such a significant investment.
From the beginning, my biggest concern was communication. After finding a floor plan I liked, I decided to move forward with purchasing the home. Unfortunately, throughout much of the process, I often felt like I was the one having to reach out for information rather than being kept informed by the builder. There were multiple occasions when my calls, messages, and questions went unanswered for days.
I also believe Chesmar could do a better job setting clear expectations before the purchase. Customers should have a clear understanding of what is included with the home and what is not, including appliances and other items. Better communication upfront could prevent misunderstandings later.
The experience on the day I was supposed to receive my keys was particularly disappointing. I arrived expecting everything to be prepared for closing and key pickup, but the person in the office did not appear to be aware that I was there to receive my keys. I was also asked to provide identification. Based on the interaction and the way I was treated, I left feeling uncomfortable and felt that I was being treated differently because of the way I was dressed. I cannot speak to anyone’s intentions, but that was how the experience made me feel.
I later brought my concerns to Chesmar’s customer care and sales management. I appreciated that they took the time to meet with me and that apologies were offered. However, I believe an apology only goes so far if there is not meaningful follow-through and action afterward.
My other major concern has been warranty and post-closing customer care. I understand that issues can arise with any new home. What matters is how those issues are handled. In my experience, there has not always been enough communication, urgency, or follow-through. As a homeowner, I should not have to repeatedly contact customer care just to find out the status of an issue that has already been reported.
I chose Chesmar because I genuinely liked the home and the floor plan. Unfortunately, the customer service experience has not always matched the importance and investment involved in purchasing a new home.
I am not expecting perfection. I am expecting communication, respect, accountability, and appreciation for the customer.
I hope Chesmar takes this feedback seriously. Better communication, clearer expectations, and more proactive customer care could make a significant difference for future homeowners.
Buying a home should be an exciting experience. I just wish my experience with Chesmar had felt that way from beginning to end.
