My wife and I had a chance to work with Jimmie Malone from Chesmar Homes in Meridiana and we're extremely impressed by him. It never felt like I was talking to a sales person. As cheesy as it sounds, he was like a friend or family member helping me make a decision. I went back 5 times with different family members before we made a decision and each time he greeted us with a smile and conversation that was comfortable. Not forced. I would highly recommend you go to Meridiana and talk to Jimmie. Sit down and spend some time with him. I promise, he is a fantastic person and you will have a great and enjoyable experience working with him.

It was an absolute pleasure working with both Jimmie and Brian in Meridiana. They listened carefully to exactly what my client needed and were extremely thorough with all information throughout the entire process.

After a month of weighing options and touring homes, we decided to move forward with a Chesmar model home. From the beginning, we had an uneasy feeling about the property, but we loved the layout. Unfortunately, our concerns were justified.
There were issues with the home that were not visible to the naked eye. Chesmar was unwilling to provide specific warranties we requested, and we later learned why. We were told we would only have a few months remaining on the warranties, which raised red flags. As a result, we paid $756 for an extensive home inspection.
The inspection report revealed 44+ issues that caused serious concern. After speaking directly with the inspector, he stated he believes Chesmar has a condensation issue. There was an “organic substance” found on the wood in the attic—also known as mold. There were visible drywall stains near the vents, exterior build concerns, and during a plumbing inspection, standing water was found in a section of piping, which could lead to future problems.
After reviewing the full report, we made the difficult decision to walk away. The overall construction appeared cheap and rushed.
We paid $2,500 in earnest money. We requested to cancel the contract on Friday (the same day the inspection was completed), but the sales representative, Ivette, did not send the cancellation form until Tuesday—and we still have not received it. We were also told it could take up to 30 days to receive our refund. They withdrew our funds within 24 hours, yet are holding our money for a full month. We are now out $756 for inspections on top of having our earnest money withheld.
If you want your “new build” home to look like this within a few years, then Chesmar may be the builder for you. We will never consider this company again. I will be sharing this experience across every available platform.
