We had an excellent experience with Amstill Roofing. The entire process was smooth, from working with our sales consultant, Jones, to scheduling with Clark. Installation was completed on schedule. Our on site project manager, Jose Lopez, was kind, knowledgeable, and kept us well informed throughout the project. He answered all of our questions and made sure everything was done right. The crew was hardworking, professional, and left our property very clean. We are very happy with our new roof and would gladly recommend Amstill Roofing.

Honesty, flexibility, quality!
When I saw water dripping from light fixtures in the kitchen during a storm, I knew it was high time to replace my ancient roof. I called Amstill Roofing and got a next-morning appointment.
Danny arrived on time, examined my house, listened to my needs, and presented "good, better, best" options. Taking into account my situation, he recommended the middle choice: Owens Corning Duration, right in the Goldilocks Zone of price and performance for Houston's climate. I appreciated his honesty in not pushing for the most expensive roof.
Clark called that afternoon to schedule. It was Thursday, and based on next week's weather forecast, he suggested Wednesday—but I preferred to wait till Friday since it looked even better, so he agreed to that. Clark also agreed to break my payment into two halves to manage credit card limits.
By Tuesday morning the weather outlook had changed drastically. Distraught, I called Clark and asked if by any chance Wednesday was still available. A few minutes later, after checking with the crew, he called me back and said yes! I was so grateful for the flexibility on short notice.
On installation day, the contractor crew arrived an hour early at 5:30 am. Luckily, I was up in time to open the gates for them to begin setup. The team of 8 was led by Ignacio, who was friendly though his English was shaky. But Senior Supervisor Jose Lopez—an actual Amstill employee with decades of experience—soon arrived, and his English was fluent.
Jose informed me he was required to collect the final payment before leaving that day. My credit card balance from the first payment hadn't yet cleared, so this was impossible. I called Clark and we compromised: Jose would collect just the charge for extra OSB sheets that had been required and I'd pay the rest ASAP.
The team uncomplainingly worked around excess vegetation in my back yard that tragedies in my personal life had prevented me from clearing. Despite breaks for intense heat and an afternoon rain shower—no problem since the waterproof underlayment was in place—all work was done by 5 pm. A thorough cleanup included two passes over the area with magnetic sweepers, one by a crewman, then Jose himself. Danny even stopped back by to ensure I was happy.
There were two minor glitches handled professionally:
1. Miscommunication left me surprised by the cost of replacing 12 rotted OSB decking sheets. However, Amstill's contract and blog make it clear that hidden damage can't be known until tear-off. A check with Gemini AI confirmed this is standard industry practice and Amstill's pricing was completely fair.
2. The tapered vent stacks Jose installed looked very different from what Danny had shown me. Worse, when I consulted Gemini again, it warned that these stacks were not meant for plumbing vents and urged me to halt installation. However, Jose explained that Danny had been unaware of my old house's thin, galvanized steel plumbing vents—incompatible with what he had shown me. And while Gemini was technically correct, the stacks Jose was installing were the type he had used for decades and thousands of times without problems, and were stronger and more animal-resistant—a concern I had voiced due to multiple animal intrusions into my attic over the years. Clark even offered to swap them out if I insisted, but I was satisfied with Jose's explanation. AI is wonderful and rapidly improving, but its book-learning is still no match for decades of hands-on experience in physical trades.
But as I said, these glitches were minor. My new roof is lovely and has zero leaks, even during heavy storms. I enthusiastically recommend Amstill Roofing, and if I'm fortunate enough to outlive this roof, I'll call them again for my next one!
