Originally I just left a one star review but adding text to this after the owner decided to respond after two years and question my character so now I feel the need to add context, corrections, and clarifications.
There are a few reasons for my one star review.
First, the experience of getting the warranty transferred over to me when I purchased the home was not great. I sent in the check but never received any confirmation that it was received so I tried to email (2-3 times) and call (probably 4-5 times during normal business hours and left messages) but the phone was never answered and none of my messages were returned.
When I called about an appointment, they were happy to call me right back though and I was able to finally confirm that I was under warranty and he came to inspect the house (approx. Q1 2019)
Second, in October of 2022, after multiple emails and calls, the owner came out at my request as we were seeing signs of foundation issues. My wife was the one who met with him and he suggested we were overwatering the foundation or that we had a plumbing/slab leak and recommended that I get a plumbing test which was the same thing he told me to do in our initial meeting back in 2019. I did get a plumbing test at the time of the initial recommendation and it showed no issues or concerns.
Third (and the reason I decided to finally leave the rating), in March 2023 when we were looking to sell and he came out and took measurements then quoted me over $20K in person to fix the issue of the house lifting off the piers (according to him). When I asked if this fix was necessary, he told me essentially ‘it could re-settle on the piers just fine’ and continued to say that everything was "performing as needed" so I told him that, if that is the case, it doesn’t sound essential and asked him to send me the measurements.
Over a month later, I had still not received anything, so I emailed him to ask again, and he responded recommending reaching out to an engineer he has worked with. I asked one more time for the measurements and never heard back again. There was absolutely no request made to “call and tell them [the buyer] it’s okay.”
At the recommendation of my realtor, I called a different structural engineer for an independent assessment since this would obviously come up during the sale of the home and could cause issues.
I provided the most recent survey I had as well to the engineer as any previous surveys left by the previous owner, who came out and, within an hour, told me that everything was perfectly fine and no repairs were needed.
In all, any interactions I personally had with All American Foundation repair left me feeling frustrated and mistrustful, hence the one star review.
