  I contacted Mother Modern Plumbing regarding issues with my Rinnai tankless water heater and ultimately had a very concerning experience. After a brief evaluation, I was quoted approximately $3,000 for a repair. However, no detailed explanation of the actual failure, required parts, or labor scope was provided despite me asking for clarification. The recommendation then shifted toward replacing the unit entirely, with an initial replacement quote exceeding $8,000. After I challenged the pricing, the revised estimate was reduced to approximately $5,800. This raised serious concerns for me regarding how the original pricing was determined. What was especially concerning was that neither the technician nor the written estimate identified the actual replacement model being proposed. The quote referenced only a generic “tankless replacement” with broad language about upgrades and installation. Without a model number or equipment specifications, it was impossible to independently evaluate the value of the proposed system or compare pricing fairly. I later confirmed through a plumbing supply company that a comparable replacement Rinnai unit itself retailed for approximately $875. Later that same day, management sent Tiff’s Treats cookies to my home and indicated there had been a “mistake” with the quote. However, even the revised pricing remained more than three times higher than what I ultimately paid elsewhere for a brand-new professionally installed Rinnai unit, so the gesture did not resolve my underlying concerns about the experience. I strongly encourage homeowners to obtain multiple quotes, request detailed explanations of diagnoses and repair scope, and insist on clear equipment specifications before agreeing to major plumbing work.

  Really appreciated Gabriel taking the time to explain everything while diagnosing the issue with my Rinnai tankless water heater system, especially since this was my first time having it serviced in 7-8 years. He was extremely kind, professional, and thorough throughout the appointment. Positive experience overall. I’ll admit my initial experience trying to schedule wasn’t the best because of the automated system, and I almost chose another company. Thankfully, someone followed up with a live call, which made a huge difference and led me to move forward with scheduling. In the end, I’m really glad I did.

  This is the work I have done myself to save 10 of thousands dollars. With no excavator no equipment, 2 guys, one shovel, one sharpshooter. Your guys came out to my house and yes got on top of the house to check a clean out that he couldn't service from the City main clean out, but he was mistaken that he had fixed the problem from the clean out on top of the house so he charged me $300 and to find out after all that the problem was still there. We have done all that work running new lines and putting in a new clean-out and also removing the bow in the line, but the problem that you came out to do was still not fixed. Thanks, I was piss to give him my money to end up fixing the problem I actually called him out for. Sincerely Not a happy customer

  After blowing out my water heater, I called Mother Modern Plumbing to replace it. In the process after a discussion with Marcus, we determined I had a sub slab leak. Marcus and later Mario and the appropriate apprentices determined exactly where the leak was and provided me with a few different solutions they could use to fix it. They worked diligently and were professional in their dealings with me. They explained to every step and worked for over four days to find the leak. I especially appreciate Marcus who listened to an aside I made to him about hot water being too readily available at that faucet and determined I had a leak. He paid attention to what I said and realized I had a problem larger than just replacing a hot water heater. Leak detection under a slab is a challenging process and they worked hard to find it. Had he not listened and been so attentive, I would’ve continued to have a problem, possibly ruining the new water heater and foundation problems in the future. While this was not cheap, it would’ve been a lot more expensive to have to repair a foundation. I am thankful that Marcus and Mario were diligent in finding this leak installing a new hot water heater and bypassing my sub slab leak. I will use this company again, not because they were the cheapest but because they listened and found a problem beyond just what was in front of them. In the long run, it saved me a bunch of money.
