- JPJazzy PastorSep 5, 20265.0It was late in the afternoon when we realized our air was not working. We put in a call to schedule service and after hearing our temperature was holding at 85* the reply was we will be right over. Working into the dark of night our air was restored. That is excellent customer service.

Frequently Asked Questions About Metro Air Conditioning Heating & Services
What is the SEER rating?
The seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) measures the efficiency of heating and cooling equipment. It calculates the cooling output per dollar of electricity used, compared to other systems. SEER ratings typically range from 13 to 21, with higher numbers indicating greater efficiency. For example, a three-ton unit might have a SEER rating of 13, 14, or 15. For more detailed information about SEER ratings, please contact our air conditioning specialists at Metro Air Conditioning Heating & Services.
Why is the SEER rating on the energy guide different than what my dealer quoted?
Each split system cooling unit has a nominal SEER rating, which can be increased by upgrading the indoor unit within the same series. The overall SEER rating of a system depends on the combination of equipment installed in your home. Both outdoor components (heat pump or air conditioner) and indoor components (evaporator coil and furnace or air handler) contribute to the total rating. For more information about SEER ratings and equipment combinations, please consult our air conditioning specialists.
Why should I have regular (or preventative) maintenance? How often should I have it performed?
Regular maintenance is crucial for maximizing the lifespan of your heating and cooling systems and preventing common equipment failures. These systems undergo significant stress due to constant operation, starting, and stopping. Preventative maintenance inspections can identify issues such as leaks, rust, rot, soot, frayed wires, and corroded electrical contacts. We recommend scheduling maintenance regularly to ensure optimal efficiency and avoid potential future problems with your system.
What equipment requires regular (or preventative) maintenance?
Based on our experience, heat pumps and air conditioners should receive professional maintenance twice a year, typically in spring and fall. For boiler and furnace systems, inspections should cover ductwork, pipes, dampers, valves, chimneys, registers, radiators, pumps, blowers, fuel lines, oil tanks, and all components of the furnace and boiler. Heat pump and air conditioning unit inspections should include examinations of the fan, compressor, indoor and outdoor coils, and refrigerant lines. Contact our air conditioning specialists to schedule an inspection for your equipment.
I need help troubleshooting a problem with my equipment. What should I do?
As your local Trane dealer, Metro Air Conditioning Heating & Services is equipped to assist you with troubleshooting. We also have access to Trane's network of troubleshooting technicians at distribution centers nationwide. If we encounter a situation requiring additional factory support, we will consult our factory-supported service managers. For assistance with troubleshooting, please contact our air conditioning specialists.
What are the advantages of a programmable thermostat?
Programmable thermostats offer improved accuracy and efficiency compared to mercury-containing thermostats due to their electronic nature. They allow you to automatically control your home's temperature at different times of the day without manual adjustment. This automation ensures you never forget to change the setting, potentially leading to energy savings. For more information about programmable thermostats, please consult our air conditioning specialists.
What type of filter should I use and how often should I replace it?
According to home improvement experts, it's advisable to change your HVAC air filter every one to three months. Standard filters maintain system and ductwork cleanliness but don't significantly improve indoor air quality. For enhanced air quality, consider a media air cleaner, which can improve dust and particle removal up to seven times more effectively than a standard filter. Pleated media filters can remove a wide range of particles, including airborne viruses. Always select a filter that matches your blower's capacity. For optimal efficiency and filtration, we recommend replacing disposable filters monthly. Washable filters should be cleaned monthly as well.
Why can't I find the correct size furnace filter at my local home improvement store for my Trane brand equipment?
Trane filters are manufactured using higher-quality materials than typical disposable filters found in retail stores. As a result, replacement Trane filters are exclusively available through authorized Trane dealers. It's worth noting that some Trane filters are reusable and can be hand-washed in cold water. For additional information about Trane filters, please contact our air conditioning specialists.
Where can I get parts for my Trane equipment?
As an authorized Trane dealer, our air conditioning specialists are the most reliable source for identifying and supplying the correct, up-to-date parts for your system. We can also provide competitive pricing and ensure availability of the parts you need.
Which Trane equipment will best fit my home?
Determining the most suitable Trane equipment for your home involves considering numerous factors, including square footage, insulation, window surface area and configuration, geographic location, duct sizing and arrangement, and various other elements. Metro Air Conditioning Heating & Services can perform an in-home load analysis to determine the ideal equipment combinations for your home and family's needs. Generally, one ton of air conditioning can cool between 300 to 800 square feet of living space, depending on your home's construction. To ensure you purchase a system that's appropriately sized for your home's heating and cooling requirements, it's essential to have your home's individual needs evaluated by a licensed professional. Contact our air conditioning specialists to schedule an assessment.
