Very disappointing experience with Mend Services. More than $10,000 spent, and the original problem is still unresolved.
We hired Mend because our hot-water pressure was extremely low. Our existing water heaters were producing hot water, but Mend told us the units needed to be replaced and that replacing them would solve the low-pressure problem. We relied on their professional recommendation and spent more than $10,000 installing two new tankless water heaters.
More than a year later, we still have essentially the same low hot-water-pressure problem.
Mend sent technicians back several times. At one point, they suggested sediment had reached the shower cartridges. The cartridges were cleaned multiple times, but any improvement was temporary and the problem continued.
Mend now states in writing that the pressure issue is most likely related to mineral accumulation and water-quality conditions, and that filtration and water-softening improvements are the appropriate solution. They also acknowledged that this solution should have been presented earlier. This naturally makes me question why we were advised to replace two functioning water heaters for more than $10,000 if filtration, flushing, descaling and water treatment were important parts of solving the original problem.
The pricing also concerns me. Mend previously provided a written estimate of $1,289 for the hot-water filtration work. Their newer proposal lists $3,000 for the two hot-water filters alone, before adding the softener loop and water-softener equipment. They describe the full proposal—approximately $4,767 after discounts—as about 50% off and close to material cost. I repeatedly asked them to explain the difference between the $1,289 and $3,000 filtration prices and provide a transparent itemized breakdown. That specific question was never answered.
Communication has been extremely frustrating. I found the plumbing manager, Ray, dismissive and condescending, and eventually requested that someone else handle the matter. The issue was escalated to Chase, Head of Operations. Chase initially communicated with me and offered a performance guarantee on the new work, but promised deadlines were repeatedly missed, emails went unanswered, and I continually had to call the office to get a response.
I appreciate that Mend offered a guarantee stating that they will refund the cost of the new corrective work if it does not resolve the pressure issue. However, that does not address why the original $10,000 recommendation failed to solve the problem or why the newer pricing has not been transparently explained.
I remained willing to work with Mend toward a fair solution, but after more than a year of the same problem, changing explanations, unclear pricing and extremely poor follow-up, I cannot recommend this company based on my experience.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Our AC went out, and after calling five other companies, nobody answered or even called me back. A friend highly recommended Mend Services, so I gave them a call, and I'm glad I did. They had someone at our house within a couple of hours, which was a huge relief in this Texas heat.
Chase was awesome. He was friendly, professional, and took the time to explain everything without trying to sell us things we didn't need. You can tell this company genuinely puts the customer first, and that's hard to find these days. Great service from start to finish. I highly recommend Mend Services, and I'll definitely be calling them again if I ever need HVAC work.
