What is Quartz?
Quartz is a naturally occurring stone extracted from the earth, similar to diamonds. Cambria Quartz utilizes various sizes of the purest, whitest quartz stones, some as small as sand grains. These stones are combined with 7% pigments and resin, then compressed to create a robust, dense, non-porous slab, mimicking the earth's compression of granite.
Are all brands of quartz material the same?
The primary distinction among quartz brands in today's market lies in the quality of materials used. Cambria employs only the highest-grade quartz and manufactures its designs in a cutting-edge U.S. facility. This results in Cambria offering a color palette with enhanced depth and clarity compared to other quartz lines.
Do I need an appointment when visiting a showroom?
An appointment is not necessary. We encourage you to visit our showroom at your convenience during our regular business hours.
How much overhang can I have on my island before I need support?
As a general guideline, one-third of the countertop width can be unsupported. The maximum unsupported overhang is 15 inches for quartz and 12 inches for granite countertops.
Will there be a seam in my countertop?
Most kitchens require seams due to material and handling constraints. Our engineering team diligently works to align veining and movement within your chosen material. CRA Granite Design will provide a countertop layout prior to fabrication, showing seam locations. We utilize state-of-the-art tools and techniques to achieve industry-leading seam quality. We recommend viewing a sample at one of our showrooms.
How do I prepare for the installation of my countertops?
To prepare for countertop installation, please empty your cabinets and remove drawers, placing them outside the work area. Clear the area of all construction materials. For safety reasons, keep children and pets away from the work area, as countertops are extremely heavy. Please clear a path between the kitchen and an outdoor work area to facilitate the numerous trips our technicians will make during installation.
How long does an install take?
Installation duration varies significantly depending on the specific project details. However, in most cases, the installation can be completed within a single day.
Why is Granite a good choice for kitchen countertops?
Granite is an excellent choice for kitchen countertops due to its exceptional hardness, surpassed only by diamond, sapphire, and ruby. Once polished, granite maintains its high gloss indefinitely. It resists scratches from normal use of kitchen utensils and cookware. Granite also exhibits remarkable heat resistance, outperforming synthetic surfaces containing polyesters and resins. While granite can withstand cookware heated to 900 degrees Fahrenheit without losing its luster, we recommend using trivets for cleanliness.
