  We've had so many professionals doing work on our house over the past decade. Remodels, roofing, HVAC, tree trimming, window installation, you can name it. But I don't think we've ever had someone so patient, so friendly, so completely honest, so professional and remarkably diligent as Bryan from Hoffman Brothers! We had the pleasure of making his acquaintance today. Our electrical panel required new breakers, and we needed two new outlets to be installed outdoors. We weren't imagining a national heatwave this week when we scheduled the appointment. Undaunted, Bryan worked through the heat for hours upon hours, even right through dinner, and got the job done beautifully and expertly. He was truly amazing! And we would definitely call Hoffman Brothers for any additional electrical needs. I think we would actually make a special request that they send Bryan back again.

  Technician showed up and was polite but not very experienced. Charged me $95 but couldn't tell me what was causing my problems. He lied about a ventilation pipe that was clearly visible in the attic that he looked in (said it wasn't there but he could install one for a lot of money). Suggested over $3,000 of solutions that were NOT needed and would not have fixed my problem. It's ok if he just hadn't been trained in what I needed but I should not be charged for it. Office workers were far worse and told me not to pay the $95 and they would just sent my bill to collections instead. She told me they never honor their "100% Money Back Satisfaction Guarantee" that they advertise on their website. I received an email from accounts receivable stating someone would reach out to me. It has been nearly a week and no one has reached out. All in all, a VERY disappointing experience with Hoffmann Bros.

  Scheduling an appointment was quick and easy. We were able to get scheduled the next day. Aaron was courteous and took the time to explain the problem and necessary repairs. I'm always a bit nervous having workers in my home when I'm by myself, but I felt very safe. The service fee was reasonable. I didn't price compare the repair estimate, but I'm happy that it can be done in the next several days. Update: I spoke with LG to see if there were any warranties available for my fridge and I was told the price I was quoted was very steep and they said we could likely do the repair ourselves. When I canceled the repair appointment, I have in writing that they would retain 10% of the down payment for restocking. They kept 10% of the total cost instead, despite what I was told by them. Edit: they got back to me and stood by their message to me and refunded what was due.

  Hoffman price gouges its customers. We have used Hoffman for several years to service our heating/air conditioning and have subscribed to their Signature service plan. Under this plan we pay $36/month ($432/yr total) and receive 6 air filters per year, 2 service appointments per year (1 for heating and 1 for a/c), and a myriad of other supposed benefits. Our systems have always run well until our most recent air conditioning check up. The technician noted our a/c capacitor had a reduced capability and recommended replacing. As Signature service customers, having already paid $432 for the yearly membership, his estimate to replace the capacitor was $375 (this estimate included our %15 Signature membership discount on service). Having zero a/c experience myself, I quickly researched capacitors and found Home Depot sold our specific model for $49. I declined the replacement due to cost gouging and replaced the capacitor myself. The replacement took a total of 40 minutes (25 minutes for the round trip to Home Depot, 5 minutes to find and watch a YouTube video on capacitor replacement, and 10 minutes for the actual replacement of the capacitor). That is a huge disparity in cost, $49 and 40 minutes of my time to replace the capacitor compared to $375 for Hoffman to do it (keep in mind, we have already paid $432/yr for the Signature service membership). I do not recommend using Hoffman nor its service plans. As the numbers show above, they take advantage of their customers through pricing.

  When I called to have my sink and dishwasher repaired, over the phone they had quoted me $175 for the base fee + my other appliance ($125 for the sink and $49 for any add on appliances). They specified that that was the base fee but it might be slightly higher if the Plummer had to get any parts or anything of that sort. When the Plummer arrived he was very nice to come at 7am, which was the only time they could promise me instead of coming any time between 8-12. I know I had a little bit of glass down the drain but not a lot of food or anything of that matter because my sink was very old. The Plummer quoted me $246 to fix just my sink and said that it would be $460 something dollars to fix my sink and my dishwasher. I was very confused why it was so much extra for the Plummer who only stayed a total of 45 minutes. Once I told him I only had $200 for the repair he then said it would only be $147 just for the sink and that he couldn’t inspect the dishwasher but he could call someone else out to my house to inspect the sink for $50. So it started at $125 for the sink and $50 to inspect the dishwasher to $147 for the sink and that he can’t actually inspect the sink, he’ll have to call someone else to do that. I know prices fluctuate sometimes but he was there for 45 and it feels like he was trying to see what he could get and still ended up not even evaluating dishwasher and charged me $25 extra for getting glass out of my sink.
