- KHKirk HarnackAug 12, 20265.0I needed a one-way valve, usually called a “check valve“. And I was quite sure if I had the right idea about installing it. I was greeted very quickly when I came into the store, and after describing the problem I was having and letting the clerk know that I had Photos with a tape measure to get the size is right, he was extremely helpful and suggesting two different options for installing the check valve that I needed. I had previously gone to one of the big home improvement stores, and I had to work hard to find somebody to help me there. His advice was OK, but they just didn’t have the selection of parts that I needed to get the one I wanted. Of course, Ferguson is the kind of store where they have a lot of items and can get even more, but they’re also used to dealing with professionals. So, just like auto supply stores. It’s a good idea to at least do a little bit of homework in advance to try to describe what you need. In my case, I had the old part that was broken and I had photos showing the existing installation. Once I got home with the new check valve and a couple other items I had the problem solved in about 30 minutes. I was really happy with the way they worked to understand my issue and my additional concerns, and then the options they gave me for making it right and providing a little bit of extra advice along with that.
