How long will my concrete work last?
If installed properly, the concrete should last 20 years or more depending on a variety of factors. For instance, according to The Spruce, a popular home improvement publication, concrete driveways generally remain functional for 25 to 50 years, depending on the type of concrete and the quality of the installation and maintenance provided. Weather conditions and climate can also have an impact. For more information about the longevity of different concrete projects, reach out to our team today. We're here any time you find yourself thinking, "I need expert concrete contractors near me for installations that last!"
How long does concrete take to dry?
In our experience, concrete typically takes 24 hours before you can fully walk on it and 28 days before it's fully cured, pending conditions.
Are you wondering, "Where can I find licensed and insured concrete contractors near me?" Call us today to request your free estimate!
How long will it take to replace my concrete driveway?
Most concrete driveways can be replaced in under a week. Some concrete sidewalks and concrete patios should take from a day or two to a week. Small concrete steps from a day or two and large concrete steps about one week.
Why does concrete crack?
The number one reason concrete will crack is driving on it before it is fully cured. Concrete takes 28 days to cure to 100% strength.
The second reason concrete will crack is poor subgrade. Mud or clay subgrade will cause concrete to crack. subgrade should be compacted road base.
The third reason concrete will crack is improper installation. Not installing expansion and control joints is guaranteed cause concrete to fracture and fail.
Not using high quality high strength concrete will cause it to crack.
Not using rebar or fiber mesh will also cause your new concrete to fail.
Will deicer effect my concrete?
Yes, do not use deicer if possible. Road salts will also cause concrete to degrade
Is patching concrete effective?
Generally no. Patching is only temporary at best and often will cost just as much as replacing with new concrete.
Can anyone pour concrete?
I would not recommend pouring concrete without 4-5 years’ experience. Small amounts mixed in a wheel borrow, maybe, but large amounts from a cement truck defiantly not.
Is concrete raising a good option?
Concrete raising can sometimes be used to prolong the life of your concrete flatwork, but it is only temporary and does not address the reason your concrete settled in the first place.
Can concrete be poured over grass?
No. Grass or any organic matter should never be used as subgrade for concrete.
