- LHLynn HoltOct 3, 20221.0BUYER BEWARE! We purchased countertops for our kitchen and bath in April. When we entered the store, we made it clear we wanted quartz, not marble, for durability purposes. The owner sold us a slab called Shadow Storm. He stated the piece was a quartzite. We had conversations about how strong quartzite is and its resistance to etching. Fast forward a few months...the island countertop is etching like crazy. After having it polished on Friday, the worker told us there is a good possibility it is marble. I spoke with Elite's owner today- only to be told that they used to call it quartzite, then they started calling it a Quartzite/Marble, and now some are calling it "a Marble or Dalamite". Knowing a true quartzite should not be etching like this, we asked if someone could come test our stone to determine if it is quartzite or not. Per the owner, ""I have no way of testing it to know what it is for sure." Furthermore, the receipts only say Shadow Storm, so, now the owner can conveniently claim he never told us it was "100% quartzite"...and it's his word versus ours. Just be careful and make sure you are getting what you think you are getting. If you have to follow up about your product, you only get an attitude from the owner and a whole lot of "I don't recalls..."
