Replaced the posts on my front porch in 2022. Less than a week later a couple of the posts were already sinking down. Gave me an extremely hard time about coming back out to fix them, stating he would charge me their minimum to come back out. Now, 4 years later all the posts have sunk, with one sinking almost two inches. Looks like they decided to not even concrete half of the posts they put in. Do not recommend. They will cut corners.
*In reply - I have photos showing the posts were sinking within only a few months of the job being complete. I tried calling you back out and both you and your wife showed up. You were rude and threatened to charge me. I was a young naive new home owner who didn’t know any better. This review is long overdue.

We had a patio covered and an additional concrete pad poured by Foskey Construction (couldn't find my prior 5 star review to edit). Initially we were happy with the work, hence the 5 star review. We are just over the two year mark and are having to replace the concrete patio. Within the first year there was chipping in small places, but now it's the entire pad and honestly looks like it is washing away (it's on a slight incline). We are currently looking getting quotes to demolish the pad and replace the concrete. To add to the frustration, Anthony recommended we place a retaining wall around the slab, which we did at an additional 3k from another company, that will need to be torn down to fix the slab correctly.

I called and spoke to Anthony to get a quote and he made an appointment with me the same day to come out and he never showed up. I texted him the next day about not showing up and he never even bothered to reply. I would not recommend a company that doesn't show up when they say they will, or even bother to respond to you when they don't.

I cannot say enough about my whole experience with Foskey Construction! From the first contact when I spoke to Anthony, to the final cleaning of the deck, everything was top notch! Dan and his crew were exceptional. They were on time, they were courteous, respectful, hard-working, and went above and beyond to make sure I was pleased. Dan even made suggestions that gave us a much better look in the end. I give my whole-hearted recommendation to anyone who is considering having a deck built. You will not be disappointed! Thank you, Anthony and Dan, for a truly wonderful experience! (Note...the small wood pieces along one side of the deck are there to ensure the trim is well adhered to concrete that we had on the other side, and will be removed tomorrow).

Composite materials like Trex require less maintenance and resist rot, while pressure-treated wood costs less upfront but needs regular staining and sealing for longevity.
Can you build a deck on sloped ground?
Yes, we build decks on slopes using adjustable post heights and proper foundation techniques. Steeper slopes may require additional bracing and taller support posts.
How deep do deck footings need to be?
In Chattanooga, deck footings must extend at least 12 inches below the frost line, typically 18-24 inches deep, and bear on undisturbed soil or compacted gravel.
What deck repairs are most common?
Common repairs include replacing rotted joists, tightening loose railings, fixing split decking boards, and updating flashing around ledger connections to prevent water damage.
When should I stain my new deck?
Wait until pressure-treated lumber dries to 15% moisture content, typically 4-6 weeks after construction, so stain penetrates properly and doesn't trap moisture.
Can you add a roof to an existing deck?
Yes, if the deck frame and footings can support additional loads. We assess wind uplift and snow load requirements, which may need deeper footings or supplemental posts.
What size pergola works for most backyards?
A 12x16 foot pergola accommodates dining furniture comfortably, while smaller 10x12 sizes work well for intimate seating areas without overwhelming typical yard spaces.
Do I need permits for outdoor structures?
Yes, permits are required for decks, gazebos, pavilions, and screened porches. We handle permit applications and coordinate required inspections throughout the construction process.
Why do gazebo posts need concrete footings?
Concrete footings below frost line prevent settling and provide stable support for roof loads. This ensures the gazebo remains level and structurally sound through seasonal ground movement.
