  Update — September 14, 2026, in response to the owner: My review already acknowledges that you eventually supplied the invoice, photographs, and readings. My concern is the follow-up required and how my questions were handled. Providing the records does not resolve that complaint. I accepted flat-rate pricing and asked for clear totals for the available options. Your earlier email said that if we were looking for the cheapest option in the area, you were unlikely to be the company for us. I found that response dismissive. Your public reply does not address that part of my experience. In my dealings with Perry Electric, I have found their communication more professional. They clearly explained installation costs and price ranges under their flat-rate approach. That is the clarity I was looking for. I remain dissatisfied with my experience with Active Heating and would not use the company again. Original review: A disappointing experience with Active Heating. Getting clear information about a serious furnace safety issue became more difficult and adversarial than it needed to be. Our household scheduled heating and cooling maintenance after receiving a mailed $50 voucher. The resulting bill was $318.60 after the discount and tax, covering $175 each for heating and cooling maintenance. We understood the technician to say the furnace had a cracked heat exchanger. However, after requesting documentation, the service manager explicitly confirmed in writing that “A crack in the heat exchanger was NOT observed or documented.” The company instead provided a photograph supporting a reported high carbon-monoxide reading in the furnace exhaust. I am not disputing their warning to leave the furnace off, but those are different findings. That distinction is exactly why homeowners ask for written documentation. I requested the inspection records, an itemized service invoice, and separate pricing for furnace replacement and repair of the existing A/C capacitor. When told the company uses flat-rate pricing, I explicitly clarified that flat-rate pricing was fine: I wanted complete prices for different options, not their internal labor and material costs. I also asked whether another estimate visit was necessary and whether it would be free. The response included an explanation that they would not likely be the right company if we wanted the cheapest option. Asking for documentation and comparable prices is not the same as demanding the cheapest possible service. After further written follow-up, they supplied the invoice, photographs, and readings. They also declined to provide replacement proposals and directed us to another contractor. I appreciate receiving the records, and I respect their choice not to pursue the installation, but the overall communication and tone left me with no confidence in continuing the relationship. My complaint is not that they identified a potential safety problem. It is how they communicated the findings and handled reasonable follow-up questions. We are taking our business elsewhere, and I would not recommend Active Heating based on this experience.
