  We purchased a DRB Homes townhome in Park Circle three years after it was originally constructed. Unfortunately, what we later discovered has left us with serious concerns about the quality of the original construction and DRB Homes’ lack of response. One morning, we woke up to our pets vomiting and an overwhelming smell of natural gas throughout the house. We immediately called Dominion Energy. When they arrived, they determined the situation was critical and ordered us to evacuate the home immediately. The source was eventually traced to a nail puncturing the gas line inside the home. Every expert we’ve spoken with who has evaluated the situation agrees that the nail was placed during the original construction of the townhouse. The damage remained hidden until the gas leak ultimately made the problem apparent. The repairs cost us more than $6,000. I attempted to contact DRB Homes multiple times earlier this year to discuss what happened. Nobody returned my calls. No acknowledgment, no conversation, nothing. This wasn’t a cracked tile or a cosmetic construction issue. A nail through a gas line created a potentially life-threatening situation inside our home. Our pets were already becoming sick by the time we realized something was wrong, and Dominion Energy considered the situation serious enough to order an immediate evacuation. I understand that we were not the original purchasers of the home. However, when multiple professionals agree that a dangerous defect originated during construction, I would expect the builder to at least return a phone call and address the concern. I’m including photos and video below so prospective DRB homeowners can see exactly what was discovered. Based on the severity of what we experienced and DRB Homes’ complete lack of response afterward, I cannot recommend DRB Homes.

  DRB Homes in Charleston, SC builds a quality home at a reasonable price. We’ve built 3 homes in our past and have never had weekly calls, and open communication with our project manager. The customer service experience has lead us to recommend them as a builder to friends in the area that may be looking to make a move.

It’s a great reminder that even if you don't build from scratch, you're still getting a quality home that's been carefully curated from start to finish.
