I had a great experience with Tony, the repair service agent. The technician was professional, knowledgeable, and very courteous. He quickly diagnosed the problem, explained what needed to be done, and completed the repair efficiently. Everything was done properly, and my system is working great again

Hottest day of the Summer and AC stopped working. Called several other service companies and was told it would be at least a week to check it
Called Tuck & Howell and they were here in a few hours. Jesse did an awesome job finding and fixing the problem. Very professional and knowledgeable! Will definitely set up a service contract with this company. 5 star customer service.

I had a bad experience with the company. I'm giving a 3-star review, though, because the owner gave me a refund. Also, I learned quite a bit throughout the whole ordeal. Honestly, Google's AI helped me dodge a major bullet on this one.
Our air conditioner went out in the dog days of summer, and I called Tuck & Howell, confident that I would be treated well after seeing the excellent rating of 4.9 out of 5 starts on Google. The technician determined the capacitor was bad and then went on to test the compressor without installing a new capacitor. He said the compressor was bad. He wanted to replace the whole system for $15,000. (I didn't know it at the time, but that is apparently way on the high end of expensive.) I pressed him for a quote to replace the compressor. Even though he downplayed the option, he followed through and found a replacement after a couple of calls and quoted me $6,000 for a replacement compressor (another sky high quote). I asked him to test the compressor with a new capacitor installed (which should be standard practice anyway) to be sure the compressor was dead, and he informed me that I would need to agree to pay almost $350 to replace the capacitor before he would run the test again on the compressor. (This is on top of a $180 diagnostic fee I had already paid.) I KNEW this was fishy, because I had just been chatting with Google Gemini about the broken AC, and it suggested I try picking up a capacitor from a parts store for $20 and installing it myself. I took its advice and sent the man away. The very same day, I drove to the parts store, bought the capacitor for $20, installed it myself (because it wasn't that difficult with instructions given by Google Gemini), and the AC hummed back to life. It was almost too good to be true. I used a thermometer to measure the air coming in the return and the air coming out of the vents. I even measured the ambient temp outside and the temperature right above the exhaust fan on the unit. Sure enough, everything confirmed the unit was removing the heat from the house just as before. There was no problem with the compressor. Only the capacitor. The technician recommended a $15,000 replacement system to address a problem that I fixed for $20. I waited all weekend to be sure the AC was permanently fixed and then called the company. Since the technician misdiagnosed the problem, I felt that the diagnostic fee should be refunded. To the owner's credit, he reversed the charge and apologized. However, he did not speak to the inflated quotes. I assume the inflated quotes are standard practice for this company.

Tuck and Howell installed my AC and furnace 3 yrs ago. Within the past 2 yrs, 3 parts have had to be replaced under warranty, but I had to pay for labor. Recently they found a leak in the evaporator coil. It was almost $800 for them to find the leak, freon to fill it up, and a service fee the tech said he couldn't waive. However the operator I talked to said it was up to the techs discretion if they waived the fee. Either way, the tech checked the outside unit and said there was no leak. The freon leaked out very quickly, so I called a different company to come out. There was a leak in the outside unit also. So in 3 yrs my AC/furnace has needed 4 parts replaced. Also, Kyle was supposed to call me back, yet I still haven't received a call. I would like my money back for the leak check that didn't identify both leaks. And for the freon that I wouldn't have paid for had my system been diagnosed correctly.
