  EDIT I am editing my review as Richard, the service manager, reached out to discuss. We talked about my concerns and agreed to an actual time/material charge as opposed to a standard price for duct repair. For a smaller job, this worked out to be a reasonable cost for work performed. I am pleased with how this was handled and feel that Howell Chase dealt with the issue fairly. ————————————- First off, My technician Lisander was knowledgeable and courteous and professional. He did what he was sent to do. So, let me back up. I called Howell-Chase as I had a ductwork problem. Fairly straightforward issue. SEE ATTACHED PICTURE. When scheduling this service call, I explained that I did not want to pay someone to come and tell me I needed my ductwork repaired. My expectation was that a technician would come with the necessary parts to make a repair and charge me fairly for time spent. Instead I was charged $150 for someone to come to my house and tell me what I already knew. And what I had detailed out when I called. The tech looked at the issue, looked up the repair cost in his phone and quoted me $1000+ to come back and make the repair. So, this was never intended to be a service call. They were not prepared to fix the issue. This was a diagnostic call. Which I did not want or need. Thanks but no thanks. I don't mind paying a fair price for services provided, but this is ridiculous. Based on this interaction, I did not feel that Howell-Chase dealt in a fair or equitable manner.

  This is hands down the most thorough and professional HVAC company I have ever encountered. They were recommended by a friend, and when our system died on a Saturday, they were able to squeeze me in. Darlin was my tech and even as his last stop of the day, he took his time to explain everything and get us back up and running. He also taught me a couple things that I was completely unaware of and will save me $100’s every few months. I’ve found my forever HVAC company!

  I had a water leak under my kitchen sink in the wall and of course it was a Friday at noon. Shelly was very helpful and was able to get two technicians to my home on Hilton Head by around 2 PM. Both technicians were kind and quickly assessed the problem. I also had a new fuacet that needed to be installed and I asked them if they could also do that while they were here. If took the technicians less than two hours and the pricing was excellent especially considering the speed in which they were able to get to my home. Shelly and the whole team did an excellent job and I will definitely be calling them in the future.

  Tyler and Jared are competent, hardworking and detail-oriented plumbing employees of Howell-Chase in Bluffton. My husband and I are pleased with the work they performed in our home. They are certainly an asset to the business. They took time to explain what they were doing and what we could expect upon completion of their part of the issue they were repairing.

  I was displeased that I had to pay the entire $157 visit cost since the HVAC tech was unable to diagnose the problem that caused my system to shut down and shut off again completely once he departed. I was pleased that the response time for emergency repair was quick but disappointed that nothing was actually repaired.
