I was a customer of Jaysburg Disposal for over three years and never had any major issues until recently.
At the beginning of the year, my rates were increased without any notice. While I wasn’t happy about it, I accepted it and continued being a customer.
The real issue occurred on June 10, 2026. I accidentally left a small 6x8 utility trailer near my dumpster after returning home from a job. The trailer is lightweight, can easily be moved by hand, and this was the first time in three years that anything had ever blocked access to my dumpster. My dumpster sits on a concrete pad with direct alley access, making it one of the easiest pickup locations imaginable.
When I noticed my dumpster had not been emptied, I called that same day. Nobody answered. I called again on Friday. Nobody answered. By Sunday evening, my dumpster was overflowing, so I left another voicemail explaining the situation and stating that I would consider another company if nobody returned my calls.
On Monday, I finally received a call back from the office. Rather than apologizing for the missed pickup or discussing a solution, the woman I spoke with immediately defended the driver and told me that their employees do not get out of the truck and should never have to. I had already acknowledged multiple times that leaving the trailer there was my mistake. What I expected was a simple conversation about how they could help resolve the issue after three years of being a loyal customer.
Instead, I was met with a defensive attitude, raised voices, and poor customer service. The entire conversation felt more focused on assigning blame than solving a problem.
At that point, I cancelled my service. I called Ken’s Disposal, explained the situation, and within approximately 30 minutes I had a new dumpster delivered to my property. Ken’s Disposal was professional, responsive, reasonably priced, and had me taken care of before Jaysburg could even provide a solution. That level of customer service is exactly how customers should be treated.
The most disappointing part is that this situation was completely avoidable. Had someone simply returned my call, apologized for the missed pickup, and offered a reasonable solution, I would likely still be a customer today. Losing a loyal customer of over three years over a single missed pickup and a poor customer service response is unfortunate and unnecessary.
The issue was never the missed pickup. The issue was the complete lack of communication, the refusal to take ownership of the situation, and the poor treatment of a long-term customer when a simple solution could have been provided.
Jaysburg Disposal did not lose a customer because of a trailer. They lost a customer because of poor customer service.
A sincere thank you to Ken’s Disposal for stepping up, responding quickly, and showing what customer service is supposed to look like. Attached is some
Photos of the overflowing dumpster that still wasn’t picked as of 6/17/26 as well as the easy access to show how crazy it is that they just didn’t pull it out a few feet and let me know about the trailer… ridiculous
