Kenrich Mechanical installed the HVAC system in my new construction home, when I had discovered there was an issue with the installation not being up to code and getting an E04 error code on the control board.
When they were notified, the customer service when I called stated that all codes were followed and was hostile like I was doing something to a new HVAC system in my home where I had to simply state that it was just sitting in my basement, I was not taking it apart, messing with it, nothing, it was re-cycling and the internal components were overheating. Kenrich stated that they would send someone out to look at it. When the technician arrived, he came in with an attitude and insisted he already knew the issue, I have an Aprilaire filter system where I am allowed to use 4 different kinds of filters, 210, 213, 213 CBN, 216. It is the accordion style filters and I use the 216 for my one daughters allergies, and the technician stated that it is my fault because the system is only able to use the 210 (which is not true). I tried to reason with him stating the filter system is already limited to 4 filters and it is not up to code, he then told me he wasn't here to argue with me, which is exactly what he was doing, and he does not care what the manufacturer says because he has been doing this as long as I have been born. I called Trane and Aprilaire and verified that this would most likely be the cause of the E04 error code I was receiving. When I asked what the static pressure was, he claimed he did not have a tool to measure static pressure and insisted it had nothing to do with my issue. He only conducted 2- 15 minute tests using the 213, and 213 CBN filters and came to the conclusion that nothing was wrong.
Then in an email to the builder, Kenrich stated that they will do the work with no charge but I had to pay for the service charge for $150.00, (the one where they stated nothing was wrong, and did not conduct any diagnostics.) They claimed I knew about the service charge when none of this was disclosed prior, the technician came out, and did not provide any diagnostics, left without providing any findings other than nothing is wrong, no notes or any documentation. What makes this even more concerning is that after their technician said everything was fine Kenrich said they were "willing to install the transition fitting at no charge." Directly contradicting their own technician's conclusion. If nothing was wrong, why would corrective work suddenly be offered?
The builder reviewed the situation and ultimately had to bring in another HVAC company to correct the installation problems because Kenrich failed to address this issue and resolve their own work.
Based on my experience - lack of diagnostics, contradictory statements, delayed invoicing, and no accountability for installation issues - I would not recommend Kenrich Mechanical for service, troubleshooting, or installation support.
