I called because my niece flushed some wipes she shouldn't have and it caused a massive clog. Sewage backed up into our downstairs shower and toilet. Receptionist asked if tomorrow would be ok, but I said I'd really need someone the same day because we had no water. She did sound hesitant, but said they could send someone that afternoon. Workers arrived, but when I described the problem they said they suspected a septic issue. I showed them the tank and it did indeed look full. I couldn't remember when my tank was last pumped... so they suggested that, charged the $125 service fee for coming out (but no work performed), and left. Didn't come inside. So I called the septic company. They were surprised because the last pump was a year ago... but sent someone out after hours to take a look. I let him know the situation and what these plumbers had said. He explained that it's normal for a septic tank to be filled with material (liquid at first, becoming more solid over time), and this one looked like it had plenty of space. He snaked it as far as he could from the outside and confirmed that the leak had to be farther up inside the house. So... I called another plumber, who sent someone out at night as an emergency job. He came in, fixed the clogs, and everything has been fine since. ---- Judging by all the other great reviews, I assume the work crew was just trying to slip in a quick visit and just didn't have time to do the job. ...but also, call me crazy, but I'd have preferred it if they just said "sorry, but we're all booked up today." Instead they came, charge the service fee, give me misleading advice (costing more $$ to have the septic company come out unnecessarily), and ultimately have to call another plumber to fix the problem instead.
