We chose Cousins to enclose our back porch based on their positive reviews. Big mistake.
We met with the salesperson, Joe, on April 2 to discuss the project.. He assured us that it would take 8 weeks, possibly less, for the materials to come in and to schedule the install. We also described a small leak in our porch roof, and Joe said they would include the roof repair in our contract along with the porch enclosure, so we went ahead with it. Next, Ray came out to take measurements and discuss the project specifications, again assuring us it would take 8 weeks, probably less. Fast forward to mid-June. We did not hear anything, so I reached out to Ray. I was told the materials would arrive the week of June 20th and he would contact me to arrange the installation. June 20th came and went -still heard nothing. I reached out to Ray and Sam, the owner, who both told me that they made a mistake and the materials would arrive JULY 20th. Finally received a call on July 29th that the materials were in and they would be out first thing on July 31st to install. The installers arrived on time and began unloading the materials from the truck. About an hour later, Ray knocked on my door to tell me he accidentally ordered the wrong color (gray instead of bronze), he was sorry, and tried to convince me to install the gray anyway (that did not match any part of our house) instead of the bronze that we ordered (and confirmed the color 3 times). He said the gray did not look “that bad” (it did look that bad). So, we had to wait AGAIN for the correct color to be ordered. Instead of reordering, the materials were sent out to be painted the correct color. Sam informed us that it would be an additional 1-2 weeks to receive the correct materials, which put us into mid-August. Mid-August came and went with us still waiting.
They finally showed up at the end of August. The screens were too tight and had to be replaced because they were starting to rip. The original door handle got misplaced somehow so Ray used a handle he had”laying around the house “ which did not match, the screws did not fit and the door would not latch. The threshold under the door was cut too short, which left 1” of unprotected space under the door. The paint was chipped off in several areas around the base and on one of the walls. The door handle and threshold were finally replaced, along with the screens.
The installation was slated to take 1.5 days total, but ended up being 7 days because of all of the mistakes. My husband and I each had to take additional days off from work because of this.
The roof was never repaired, even though it was in our contract. One of the installers attempted to repair the leak. Unfortunately, he did not have the correct materials with him, but told us someone else would be out with the correct supplies to repair it. Ray also assured us that someone from the repair team would be out to fix it. I sent three messages to Ray and Sam regarding the roof repair - all of which went unanswered. This is a breach of contract.
The whole process was nothing but a nightmare.
