f you are considering Ace for a major door installation, be warned about their pricing tactics and sub-par work.
The Bait-and-Switch Pricing: Pat inspected my door beforehand, knew the subfloor under the threshold was flexing, but failed to include it in the estimate. Once my old door was entirely removed the week of Christmas, he called and demanded an extra $500 to proceed.
Botched Installation: Their installers completely "pinched" a flawless $4,000 Anderson door assembly. It was installed crooked horizontally, bowed on the right side, and significantly out of plumb vertically (causing the door to swing open by itself).
Structural Failures: When the weather warmed up, the door would not lock, leaving a gap of daylight. A home inspector and two retired builders all reviewed the work and called it a total mess. The one builder referred to the install as 'pinched.' Each professional pointed out to me what was apparent to their trained eyes.
Zero Customer Service: When the door wouldn't lock, I called Ace repeatedly. They ignored every single call. When I finally reached someone, the office receptionist tried to claim they weren't responsible for any warranty. The door only locks today because the salesman who sold me the unit, came out on his own time to salvage their mistakes. Ace collected full payment, refused to look at their finished project, and refused to stand behind their work. Avoid this company.
Special Note: I admit 5 months had passed from the initial installation before I realized the problem with the installation. I don't use the door when I have a sliding door not 8' away, that has a more durable vinyl wood floor. Regardless, ACE should have returned my calls, and at a minimum looked at the issue.
