Mike Pagnottelli is the absolute best! He explained each HVAC system in great detail and informed us of the best option for our home without any pressure. Financing was easy. The added security of the Red Bow Maintenance Membership gives us the added peace of mind we need. In my opinion, it's the best maintenance program available for the price. Working with a company that is part of Ace Hardware is important. It's a brand that is both local and trusted. The best part of our experience was when Mike offered us window units to ensure our comfort until our system is able to be installed. We will forever be thankful to Mike for his knowledge and care during this extreme heat wave.
Pat and Ant arrived promptly, were polite and informative. They went over what they would be doing, then got right to work. The install started with covering all services to protect from dirt and damage, followed by the removal of my old air-conditioning unit and the installation of the new one. From my point of view, the install seem to go as planned and they did not stop working until the installation was complete. The job was finished and cleaned up appropriately, followed by a thorough discussion of the new unit and the operation.
We have had an excellent experience with Dwayne Ward from Ace Hardware. He brings remarkable attention to detail to every job and approaches problems with a tenacity that is both reassuring and effective. When something goes wrong, he does not simply identify the most obvious issue and move on; he works persistently through the possibilities and will not leave a problem until he has at least arrived at a credible, tentative solution. Just as important, Dwayne is exceptionally approachable and considerate of the customer’s needs. He explains matters clearly, listens carefully, and understands that an air-conditioning problem can be disruptive and stressful. His knowledge is extraordinary—not only of air-conditioning systems and hardware, but seemingly of almost anything one might ask him about. He is a genuine pleasure to have around when things go wrong. We could not wish for a more knowledgeable, dependable, thoughtful, or capable person to work with.

First off, everyone we dealt with at Ace was nothing but professional and polite. This was a major home systems update for us, what we called the Terrible Trifecta: it was time for a new boiler, a new AC system, and a new water heater. It was a massive project for a home. Systems had improved in the intervening 30 years, and, instead of installing another AC unit, we opted for a Trane heat pump, counting on benefiting from both its heating and cooling abilities.
There were basically two crews. The first crew of Alex and Juan were very skilled and hard working, it takes lot to be up in an attic in this weather running duct work and then installing the attic portion of the heat pump. Along with the upgraded duct work and venting, they roughed in piping for the boiler and installed the water heater. They also installed the external part of the heat pump and tied everything together.
There was a section of flooring underneath the old furnace and water heater that was never able to be tiled. Until now. First off, they were able to adjust their work focus to give us time to lay new tile. Then, when, I went to lay the tile, I found out that they had prepped the whole area for me, removing the old tile and scraping up mastic, which I completely didn't expect and which was great!
Alex and Juan ended each day with an explanation of what they'd done and what was to come. They always left the job site tidy.
The second crew of Mariano, Ant, and Chiller took over from there. Also skilled, they installed the mini-split, and were responsible for adding refrigerants to systems to proper levels, hooking up various panels and control systems, as well as the boiler tie-in to our multi-zoned system.
They were also kind enough to give us time to prep our inside and outside wall system before the mini-split install, which took us a bit longer than we hoped.
That's another point: everyone was very efficient.
This project took roughly 7 working days, with some days running long for people.
We would recommend you to others with major home projects.
We are a few days away from a 103 degree stress test!
High velocity AC / heat pump system installed for top 2 floors of 3-sty 1925 twin in Phila. Air handler and distribution plenum installed in attic w/ flexible 2" tubes snaking to outlets in ceiling. Took 4-1/2 days. Ace (formerly Unique Indoor Comfort) installed Unico high velocity system. The install went smoothly - thanks entirely to installlers Trong Chau and Van Tam Phan. Trong has been doing this work for 20 yrs! He is the expert, knows the system backwards & fowards. He is the go-to guy for difficult installations. Plus, he is very friendly and personable . The original quote was handled very well by Mike Pagnotelli - who also is truly an expert on these systems. He knows everything technical about these systems, and also about any alternative systems that you might come across. There are ony a handful of companies that can install hi-velocity systems. This one is the best. There is only one other that I would consider: that company is ECI Comfort (Matt Lafferty). You won't go wrong with either of these companies. But, if you can get Trong to be assigned as your installer for Ace, you are in luck. He gets my highest recommendation possible. Ace Home Services operates a portfolio of localized home service companies. So, I can only comment on the Uniique Home Comfort section. For that particular section - I recommend it without reservation. The price of installing a hi-velocity system is high, no matter who installs it. But the Ace quote included 5 yrs of maintenance - making it the best value for the system. It is apparently very important for hi-velocity systems to be consistently maintained. It is not optional - unlike for standard AC systems that do not require strict oversight.
