At first I thought things were going well, got the transit and were able to track down an excavator at another sunbelt location. That’s when things got confusing. The excavator rental changed hands from one store to another and then back to this location. Called in Tuesday to have the excavator picked up late because of the rain they said that’s ok and that they would be back on Wednesday or Thursday to pick it up. Around lunch time that same day a sunbelt truck pulled up and was ready to take the excavator. I was still working in stuff and thinking that I had another day or so with the machine I did not get to clean the machine off or top it off with diesel. The lack of communication on when the machine was going to be picked up, left us in a pinch. Luckily Westmoreland Equipment Inc. came to save the day. They provided me with a machine within the hour and were very reasonably priced and were honest in there communication. I have never had a problem with Westmoreland Equipment inc. Since the last issue with sunbelt I have seamlessly rented two pieces of equipment from Westmoreland Equipment they are my go to for equipment rentals.

I called ahead to reserve an augerhead for the following week and gave the machine that I needed it to fit. I called back on Monday as I needed the auger on Wednesday. I was assure that the auger and attachment would fit my machine. After picking up and going to the jobsite, it was apparent that the auger attachment did not fit my machine. Luckily, Westmoreland Equipment was within 10 minutes of the site and was able to get me the correct attachment that same day. Sunbelt did return my rental cost, but they did cost me a few man hours.

As a contractor, I depend on rental equipment being safe, properly prepared, and matched to the job. Unfortunately, I’ve had several negative experiences with Sunbelt Rentals over the years, with the most significant occurring at the Harmarville location.
The most frustrating incident happened when I was rented a machine with the wrong bucket attachment for the work I had scheduled. Because of that mistake, my crew and I were forced to manually shovel approximately 7 tons of gravel that should have been moved by the machine. When I brought the issue to management’s attention, I wasn’t looking for an argument—I simply wanted Sunbelt to make the situation right. Instead, I felt the responsibility was placed back on me. The conversation escalated, police were called, and I was ultimately told I was no longer welcome at the Harmarville location.
I’ve also experienced other issues with Sunbelt rentals, including a trailer becoming disconnected from my truck after leaving the yard, causing damage to my tailgate, and a separate trailer rental that experienced brake problems. In that situation, the brakes locked up, leaving me stranded until nearly 10:00 PM and waiting approximately three hours for a service technician.
I understand that mistakes happen in any business. What was most disappointing was not the mistakes themselves, but the lack of accountability and effort to resolve the problems when they were brought forward. Had there been a genuine attempt to make things right, I likely would have remained a customer.
The equipment selection is good, but based on my experience, there needs to be greater attention to equipment preparation, safety checks, and customer service when issues arise.

Tried to rent equipment and was told they didn’t have any inventory for weeks. Additionally the quote for weekend use was insane with delivery! Save yourself the time and money and call Westmoreland Equipment before these guys!

Is a deposit required for a reservation?
For customers without a line of credit, Sunbelt Rentals does not require a deposit to rent tools and equipment. However, you will be asked for payment information when you make your reservation. Your credit or debit card will not be charged for the rental period (one ((1)) day minimum) until you pick up the equipment.
For Credit Customers, we will secure a deposit for your reservation. This deposit will be held within your account until the rental equipment is returned and the contract closed. Apply for a credit account here.
If your project is quick and you only need the equipment for a few hours, Sunbelt Rentals does offer a Rapid Return rate. Return the equipment within four (4) hours of the pickup time and we will refund the difference of the Rapid Return rate. Rates will vary based on product. What if I need to keep my equipment longer?
If you need assistance, please contact the branch of the equipment rental and they can extend the rental for you. When you keep the equipment longer, we will add the additional time and charges to your contract and credit card. Please refer to the rental contract, where the day, week and 4-week rates are shown for each piece of tool and equipment.
Can I return rented equipment at any location?
Typically, equipment should be returned to the same location where you initially rented it. If you need to return it to a different location, please contact the store where you rented the equipment for guidance. It’s advisable to call ahead so we can assist you in finding a convenient alternative location for your return. Your convenience is our priority.
What is the cost for the delivery of equipment to my location?
The delivery charge is calculated based on the category and class of equipment, the location of the rental location, the distance of the project site from the rental location.
Can I get tools and equipment delivered to me?
Yes, Sunbelt Rentals offers convenient delivery options from our extensive network of locations for a reasonable fee. When making a reservation, simply select the delivery option. During the reservation process, you can specify the delivery drop-off date and time, as well as your estimated equipment pickup date. The estimate is for our planning purposes and not a final date.
To initiate our equipment pickup service, you must confirm the end of your rental via the app or by phone. Additionally, if you have specific delivery instructions or prefer a designated contact person for coordination, please include those details when submitting your reservation.
