I had my failed jet pump replaced, my underground well converted to a modern above-ground wellhead with a new submersible pump, and my waterlogged pressure tank replaced. There were definitely some positives. They answered the phone immediately, had someone out the same day to evaluate the problem, and provided a ballpark estimate. While their estimate was on the higher end compared to other quotes I received, it was still within the same general range. They scheduled the work for first thing the following morning, arrived when promised, got right to work, and by the end of the day I had running water again. Unfortunately, the quality and attention to detail during the installation didn’t match the premium price. One frustration was the pricing. During the initial visit, I was given a ballpark estimate of $6,500–$8,000, which was already on the higher end of the other quotes I received (roughly $5,300–$7,000). The following day, after the well had already been pulled and my home was now without water, I was advised that I should upgrade to a larger pressure tank because of my well depth and water level. At that point, I was told, “Yesterday you were looking at the high $8,000s, now you’re looking at the high $9,000s.” Once the work had begun and my system was already apart, I didn’t feel like I had much choice but to proceed. After the installation, I found water on my basement ceiling tiles from the replacement of the waterlogged pressure tank. Not a major issue, but i don’t understand how that happened. More concerning was that nearly every fixture in my house was full of debris after the work. Two toilets and two sinks stopped functioning because the aerators and toilet inlet screens became clogged. After investigating, I found the bypass valve around my whole-house filters had been left open during the work, allowing sediment to travel throughout the system. My plumber ultimately had to repair three of the four affected fixtures. One toilet’s inlet valve was so clogged with debris that it had to be replaced entirely. The $250 credit essentially covered the plumber’s bill, but it didn’t change the fact that the issue was completely preventable had the filter bypass not been left open during the installation. Then, two days later, I discovered one of the newly installed water lines leading to the pressure tank leaking into my basement. I called on Sunday when it was discovered, and they returned Tuesday to repair it. In the end, I have a working well system, and I appreciate their responsiveness and ability to get me back up and running quickly. However, for a job that cost nearly $10,000, I expected much better workmanship and quality control. Between the pex/sharkbite, leaving the filter bypass open, the leaking plumbing connection, and the overall finish quality, I was disappointed. If I were making the decision again, I would choose a different well contractor. I wouldn’t discourage someone from using them if they’re the only company available in an emergency, but if another well-reviewed well service is available, that would be my recommendation. I did appreciate Zachary’s communication throughout the project as well.
