I paid $470 for a weekday morning service call to address a sewage ejector pump problem in my house. My wife called the company in the morning, so this was not an overnight, weekend, or emergency after hours visit.
The technician did restore the system temporarily, but based on his own written service description, I do not believe the work justified the price or represented a complete repair. He was not even an hour in my house.
The sewage ejector pit had filled and wastewater had backed up into the shower. The technician opened the access panel, tried unsuccessfully to reach the float switch, then bypassed the float by plugging the pump directly into the outlet. The pump immediately worked and emptied the pit. He then reconnected the float switch, ran water into the pit, and cycled the pump multiple times to confirm that it turned on and off.
That confirmed that the pump itself could operate. What it did not establish was why the system failed in the first place.
Once the pit was emptied and access was better, I expected a proper diagnosis of the float switch area: clean up, verify clogged material in the surrounding, etc.
According to the technician’s own report, he did not document physically inspecting the float switch, verifying that it could move freely, checking whether it was being obstructed by the inlet pipe, pump, wiring, basin wall, or debris, cleaning accumulated material around it, repositioning it, replacing it, or identifying any defective component.
He even wrote that the float appeared to be located under or near the incoming drain pipe. That should have prompted a closer inspection because interference with the float could cause the same problem again.
Instead, he just simply pumped the pit down, reconnected, and tested repeatedly. No permanent cause was identified and no actual defective component was repaired or replaced.
The technician also advised us not to flush wipes, feminine products, or heavy paper. That is reasonable general advice, but his report does not state that he actually found any of those materials causing the failure. My family already knows what to throw into the toilet. I advise them clearly so I know there is not plastics or things of that nature inside the pit.
For $470, I expected more than restoring operation and confirming that the system happened to work afterward. I expected the company to determine, as reasonably possible, why the ejector system failed and correct the cause. As it stands, I may experience the same sewage backup again because the original failure mechanism was never identified.
Potential customers should understand the difference between getting a system running again and actually diagnosing and repairing the problem. Based on my experience, I consider $470 per hour excessive for the level of work performed, and I would not use this company again.
Matt in parts was fantastic! He helped me find replacement parts for my tub valve stems. He identified the manufacturer, found the correct part, and ordered them! I was incredibly grateful for the time and effort he put into helping me. I highly recommend their parts department.

Kevin Collins of Schuler Service visited our home twice. Once for installation of a water pump suggested by our HVAC company, for drain cleaning, and later for installation of a hot water recirculating system. Each visit he was able to meet our plumbing needs. He was efficient, gave clear reasonable pricing and was not pushy about our choices of service. He was friendly, and ensured our home remained clean as he traveled in, out, and through our home. I will request Kevin in the future and would recommend his services to others seeking plumbing services.

I highly recommend them to anyone looking for honest, reliable, and professional service.
I am leaving this review following a visit from Chuck go our house to diagnose and help us with a leak in our residence. I called Sunday morning when we discovered the dripping water in our basement, thinking we would would be emptying bowls of water until the week. We were surprised by a call back almost immediately from Jamie who was very nice and understanding, and she got us set up with Chuck who arrived within the hour. Chuck identified our leak behind the refrigerator and went to work correcting the leak. He then surveyed the moisture in our basement, talked through the possible moisture remediation needs, and got us set up with a remediation company immediately. And I mean immediately. Within an hour the remediation company was out to begin putting together our plan. I would highly recommend Chuck and Schulers, as this was our first experience with them and their "infrastructure" with text and email alerts for appointment confirmation, giving a heads up who from their team is coming w/ picture, etc - very well integrated and informative. AND Chuck was very knowledgeable and most important to us - was genuine, honest, fixed what needed to be corrected, and was patient with our multitude to anxious questions. I have seen Schuler's trucks around the area, and have heard ads, but this was our first time working with them, and they are now our go to plumber. AND, the fee for the emergency, Sunday service call was very fair and appropriate, and did not prey on our desperation by which we are very impressed and appreciative.
