  We experienced a failed sewer line less than a year after moving into a rebuilt home from a fire. Needless to say we were freaking out a little bit but Roto-Rooter came immediately and two days everything was fixed and we were good to go. I also appreciated how they cleaned up so well after themselves. We will use them again hopefully it won't be necessary but we will use them again.

  Extremely Disappointed — $17,000+ Later, the Problem Wasn’t Fixed I am extremely disappointed with our experience with Roto-Rooter. We originally contacted Roto-Rooter because we were having an intermittent issue with a drain in our basement laundry room that would irregularly back up with water. We called them because of their strong reputation in the area and believed we were dealing with a company we could trust. After inspecting the situation, we were told that the problem was the main trap for our house. The cost to address that issue was approximately $7,700. Once the work began, we were then told that a fitting beyond the trap was damaged and also needed to be replaced. That resulted in another approximately $10,000 in repairs and excavation. At that point, we had invested roughly $17,000 into fixing this problem. We proceeded without getting a second opinion because we trusted Roto-Rooter’s reputation and the professionals they sent to our home. The most frustrating part is what happened afterward. Before proceeding, the on-site manager, Ron, gave us extremely strong assurances about the outcome. We were told that if we completed the initial repair, “you would never see this issue again in your lifetime, and even if you did, it wouldn’t be at least for a very long time.” Those assurances played a significant role in our decision to move forward with the work. Unfortunately, less than six months later, the drain backed up again — and it has happened multiple times. We contacted Roto-Rooter several times because, from our perspective, the very issue we spent approximately $17,000 to resolve was still occurring. This is where our frustration with the company became even greater. When we attempted to escalate the matter, we spoke with Geoff Stewart, the owner/president, and explained what had been promised to my wife and me by Ron. We were essentially told that he could not, or would not, speak for what his trusted employee had promised us. That response was extremely disappointing. If an employee is representing your company, working on a customer’s home, recommending a $17,000+ repair, and making very specific assurances about the result, I believe the company should stand behind those representations. Instead, we were offered smaller remedies and attempts to appease us, but nothing that actually addressed the fundamental issue: we spent a substantial amount of money to fix a problem that we were told would not return, and it returned within six months. This isn’t simply about an inconvenient drain backup anymore. It’s about trust, accountability, communication, and standing behind the work and representations made to customers. We chose Roto-Rooter specifically because we believed their reputation meant we were dealing with a company that would take care of us. Unfortunately, our experience has been the opposite. Spending approximately $17,000 on plumbing repairs is a significant investment for any homeowner. Having the same problem return within six months and then feeling like the company is unwilling to take responsibility for the assurances made by its own site manager has left us extremely disappointed. I would strongly encourage anyone considering a major repair with Roto-Rooter to get a second opinion, get everything promised in writing, and make sure you fully understand what is and isn’t covered before authorizing the work. For us, the biggest disappointment isn’t just that the problem came back. It’s that after putting our trust — and approximately $17,000 — into Roto-Rooter, we don’t feel that trust was reciprocated when we needed the company to stand behind what we were told
