I had good experiences with A-TEMP in the past, but my most recent visit left me feeling pressured and deeply uncomfortable.
I scheduled routine air-conditioning maintenance, and that portion of the appointment went very well. However, the technician also inspected and ran my furnace, even though I had only requested AC service and had not authorized a furnace inspection. The technician then declared the furnace unsafe and red-tagged it, shutting it off and leaving me facing the prospect of having no heat during the winter unless I replaced it.
Immediately I was asked whether I wanted to meet with a salesperson, and I said sure. Before providing a quote, one of the salesperson’s first questions was essentially how much money I make, apparently to determine which tax incentives might apply. I understand why household income can be relevant, but asking about it so early in the conversation felt tacky and contributed to the sense that I was being pushed rapidly from an unexpected inspection into an expensive sale.
The recommended system was costly and appeared to have considerably more complexity and more potential points of failure than I wanted. I was also concerned that a more complicated system could have a shorter practical lifespan. Most importantly, ATEMP’s quote was approximately twice the price I later received from a trusted local HVAC company.
The local company I eventually went with performed extensive testing and concluded that the danger identified by A-TEMP was minimal, theoretical, and maybe not present at all. The technician providing the second opinion also questioned some of the terminology A-TEMP had used, saying that certain supposed part names did not correspond to actual furnace components he recognized. That made the original diagnosis, disabling my unit, and the immediate transition into a sales appointment feel even more questionable to me.
I want to be fair: the scheduled AC maintenance itself was handled well, and I had previously been happy with A-TEMP. Unfortunately, the unrequested furnace inspection, immediate red tag, rapid sales pitch, intrusive opening question, questionable terminology, and quote that was double a competitor’s price destroyed my confidence in the company. Based on this experience, I will not be using A-TEMP again.

Guy did absolutely nothing. System is now worse than before he touched it. Said a simple $2000+ repair would fix the issue, then "found" issues that he "didn't notice". He was polite, but worse than useless.

We always use A-Temp for Heating & Cooling installation/maintenance and have always had excellent service. Today we used the Electrical services for the first time and experienced the same excellent service. Andrey was very professional, friendly and prompt. He explained the issue and the repair clearly and expertly. He also made sure we didn't have any other questions or issues he could help with. Thank you Andrey!

Called this company on 6/13/26 for a weekend AC repair since my regular HVAC company doesn't work Saturdays. AC repair itself was fine, but the technician then insisted on a "safety inspection" of my furnace (installed 2013), scoped the heat exchanger, and claimed he found pinholes and a crack. He shut off the gas, placed a "repairs needed" red tag on the unit, and immediately pivoted to a sales pitch for a full furnace/AC replacement, including financing rates. He also said he was required to report the finding to a state gas regulator — not accurate for Oregon.
Unconvinced, I had Deluxe Heating & Cooling (the company that originally installed my furnace) come out the following week for a second opinion. Their borescope inspection found zero pinholes and zero cracks. A flame displacement test and combustion analysis also came back completely clean.
I'm filing complaints with the BBB and the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB). If you use this company for a diagnostic, I'd strongly recommend getting a second opinion before authorizing any major repair or replacement work.
Frequently Asked Questions About A-TEMP Heating, Cooling, and Electrical
Why do the outlets near my bathroom go out frequently?
When outlets in the bathroom or kitchen go out frequently, it can be caused by GFCI tripping. GFCI outlets are usually installed near water sources, such as in bathrooms, kitchens, garages, and outdoor spaces to provide additional safety. When a GFCI outlet detects an imbalance in the electrical circuit, it will trip to prevent electrical shock. You can reset the outlet by pressing the reset button on the outlet. If it keeps tripping, contact our team for professional electrical service.
Why is the power out in half my house?
This problem often happens in older homes because the electrical system is not sufficient to meet the demands of modern appliances and electronics. We can perform a thorough diagnostic to determine the cause of the problem and recommend the best solution, which may include upgrading your electrical panel or adding new circuits.
Should I be concerned about indoor air quality?
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that the air in many homes and commercial buildings is more polluted than the outdoor air. Indoor air can be contaminated by dust, dirt, pet dander, mold, chemicals, and other pollutants. A-TEMP offers indoor air quality solutions including air scrubbers and duct cleaning to improve your home's air quality and protect your family's health.
How can I reduce my home heating costs?
Modern heating equipment is more energy efficient than ever. Replacing your old system can reduce your energy costs by up to half. Regular maintenance helps your system run efficiently in every season. A-TEMP offers furnace tune-ups, system upgrades, and heat pump installations to help you save on energy bills.
How does air conditioning work?
Central air conditioning systems use refrigeration to remove heat and humidity from the air. The cooled air passes through a filtration system to remove dust and other particles before it is distributed throughout your home via ductwork. A-TEMP offers AC installation, maintenance, and repair services to keep your system running efficiently.
