My experience with Amped Home Services was extremely frustrating.
I had an underground water leak that I discovered on August 9. The area near the northeast corner of my house was completely saturated. I initially thought an exterior hose bib had been left on, but it quickly became obvious that wasn’t the problem.
I first contacted a local plumber I’ve used before. He couldn’t locate the underground leak and also thought my well pressure switch was leaking. Stella Pump came out and replaced the pressure switch, only to determine afterward that the switch wasn’t actually the source of the water. The underground leak was coming up through the conduit and making it appear that the pressure switch was leaking.
I was then told to contact a leak detection company. After looking at several options, I contacted Amped Home Services.
Amped scheduled someone to come out for leak detection on August 17. Nobody showed up.
I called and was told they were too busy and couldn’t make it until the next day. I was given a 9 AM to 2 PM window on August 18.
2:30 PM came and nobody had arrived. I called again and was told they were running behind but would still be there that day. Two technicians finally arrived around 4:30 PM. After looking everything over, they told me they needed to send someone with specialized leak detection equipment.
The technician specifically told me that the leak detection technician would be there the very next day at 9 AM, Wednesday the 19th.
Wednesday came. Nobody showed up.
When I called, I was told that the person who actually performs the leak detection wasn’t even working that day and would come the following day. After I expressed my frustration about the repeated missed appointments, Amped did reduce the leak detection charge, which I appreciated.
The leak detection technician finally arrived Thursday and located and marked the leaking line.
From there, there were additional delays, multiple technicians, and another missed appointment. One technician began excavating and believed the leak might be coming from beneath the house. Another technician eventually came out and determined that a Hydrovac would be necessary because water continued filling the excavation.
The leak detection technician returned, marked the exact same location, and pressurized the system. You could actually see water bubbles coming out of the ground exactly where he had marked the leak.
Eventually, they exposed the actual leaking pipe, repaired it, and got everything back together.
The leak is fixed, and I appreciate that Amped ultimately worked with me on the price.
The technicians themselves were generally courteous and professional when they were actually at my house. I also understand that underground leaks can be difficult to locate and repair, and I don’t fault them simply because the job turned out to be complicated.
My problem was the scheduling and communication.
There were multiple missed appointments, repeated changes to the schedule, different technicians coming out who didn’t always seem to know what had already been done, and numerous phone calls from me just trying to find out whether someone was actually going to show up.
I understand that unexpected problems happen. I understand that technicians get busy and that difficult jobs can take longer than expected.
What I don’t think is acceptable is repeatedly telling a customer that someone will be there and then simply not showing up, without the customer having to call and find out what happened.
I’m glad the leak is finally repaired, and I appreciate the discounts they provided. But based on my experience, I would have a very hard time recommending Amped Home Services to someone who asked me for a plumber.
Maybe this was an unusually bad experience for them. I certainly hope it was. But it was one hell of an experience for me.

Called before 9 am was promised 12-4 pm when I called at 3 he said I was still on the list then he called back to tell me he got mixed up and my apt was not scheduled and they couldn’t make it today. I took off work to be here then they call me back to say 5-5:15 someone will be there. Once again no one showed up and I have called the office multiple times with no call back or answer. Unprofessional and a waste of time.
