We chose Anderson because of its reputation and invested in premium equipment with the expectation of the “white glove” installation experience we were promised. Unfortunately, our experience has been anything but.
Our installation was June 29. The crew was from Anderson’s sister company in Michigan. Since our existing AC was still working and this was simply an upgrade, we would have gladly rescheduled if it meant receiving the Anderson installation experience we were promised.
The installation was confusing from the start. We were first told the chimney liner would require another crew, then the installers received a last-minute call telling them to install it after all. They left a significant mess in our basement. We also discovered the iWave included with our purchase had not been installed—but only because customer service casually told us, “I’ll send the iWave with Dylan.” How were we supposed to know it was missing?
By the next morning, our brand-new condenser had frozen.
Dylan came out, thawed the system, returned later that day, and corrected multiple installation issues, including an incorrect blower setting and concerns with venting. He was fantastic. Billy was equally excellent, even taking photos of the basement mess and insisting on cleaning it himself. Both technicians were professional and genuinely cared about fixing the problems.
Unfortunately, management communication was a different story. We made multiple requests for callbacks, sent a detailed email that was never answered, and our salesperson repeatedly promised to discuss reducing our bill but never followed up.
After about a week, things appeared to be working, so we moved on and didn't post a review.
Then the system froze again.
After further troubleshooting, Brian, Anderson’s Field Supervisor/Tech Manager, determined that the equipment we were sold was too large for our home's existing vent system.
We were stunned. We relied on Anderson to evaluate our home and sell us the appropriate equipment. Brian told us he has been doing this work since 1988 and rarely sees this situation. Our question was simple: How did this happen?
Anderson has now replaced the brand-new system with a smaller unit.
We appreciate that Anderson is correcting the problem, and we appreciate the efforts of Dylan, Billy, Brian and Albert. But correcting the problem doesn't erase the weeks of frustration, missed work, repeated calls, unanswered emails, multiple service visits, and the time we spent trying to figure out what was happening with a system we paid Anderson to select and install correctly.
We never should have had to become the project managers for our own HVAC installation.
Mistakes happen. What matters is how a company responds. We gave Anderson multiple opportunities to make this right before posting publicly. Unfortunately, the communication, accountability, and follow-through fell far short of the “white glove” experience we were promised.
More than a month after installation, Anderson has replaced the system they sold us because the original equipment was apparently not appropriate for our home.
We hope the new system finally resolves the problem, but based on our experience, I cannot recommend Anderson with confidence.
After a severe lightning storm caused a power surge that damaged two of our mini-split systems, we had two different HVAC companies attempt to diagnose and repair the problem without success. We then called Anderson Heating & Cooling, and that's when Dustin stepped in.
Dustin has been to our property three times, and every visit has been professional, thorough, and productive. He is knowledgeable, courteous, and takes the time to troubleshoot problems instead of looking for the easy way out. His expertise with mini-split systems is outstanding.
Most importantly, Dustin was able to identify and solve an issue that no one else had been able to figure out. That level of skill and persistence is hard to find. It's clear he takes pride in his work and genuinely cares about getting the job done right.
As the Building and Grounds Maintenance Manager at Standing Rock Farms, I work with contractors on a regular basis, and Dustin is one of the best technicians I've had the pleasure of working with. I highly recommend Dustin and Anderson Heating & Cooling to anyone looking for honest, knowledgeable, and dependable HVAC service.
