Very disappointing experience — would not recommend
I had a very disappointing experience with Verne & Ellsworth Hann plumbing company. I already knew I had a venting issue before the plumber ever arrived.
On the first day, I waited through a 5-hour appointment window, only to be told after waiting that the appointment needed to be rescheduled for the following day.
The next day, I waited again and was charged $70, only to be told that I had a venting issue and that the line needed to be scoped—which was essentially confirming what I already knew.
The following day, the plumber came back to scope the vent line. After arriving, he realized he had forgotten the camera locator and had to leave to get it. When he returned, he was unable to get the camera far enough up the vent pipe to actually identify the problem.
At that point, the proposed solution was to open up the walls to try to find the issue, despite the fact that the vent stack could potentially be scoped from the roof. Unfortunately, they do not go onto the roof to scope the vent stack.
After all of this, I ended up paying approximately $700 and was no closer to having the problem fixed than I was when they first arrived. I paid hundreds of dollars to essentially be told what I already knew: I have a venting issue.
The biggest frustration is that after three days, multiple appointments, hours of waiting, and approximately $700 in charges, I now have to hire another plumbing company to actually diagnose and fix the problem.
I understand that some plumbing problems can be difficult to diagnose, and I don't expect every issue to be fixed on the first visit. However, I do expect reasonable preparation, communication, and a legitimate effort to diagnose the problem before charging a customer hundreds of dollars.
I will not use this Verne & Ellsworth Hann again, and based on my experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for your plumbing needs.
