Our technician was ole Williams. Cole did a wonderful job on replacing a thirty five year old shower faucet. Cleaned the are when finished, helped move furniture to gain access to the back of the tub. Explained how the faucet worked.

The technician (Ethan) was great with answering questions and explaining how sump pumps work. He also did a thorough job of explaining the pros and cons of keeping our existing functional system. He also took the time to help me understand how our tankless water heater worked, which was greatly appreciated.
We decided to go with a new sump based on his recommendations.
I would recommend asking for Ethan when you contact Benjamin Franklin.

Long Story but our the city public works department where we live had contractors looking at gas upgrades so they were scoping sewer lines in the area to make sure lines didn't intercept. They informed us that our sewer line that they accessed from the street was 85% blocked with roots. We had a nationally recognized competitor plumber known for drain cleanings come out. I told them about what the city stated and they stated we would need a sewer cleanout installed for $10k as well as an entirely new sewer line installed for $12k because of the clay pipes so the total was now at $22k. We called Benjamin Franklin, They removed a toilet and scoped the line and informed us that the sewer was 0% blocked. The technician speculated that since the city accessed the sewer line from the road and not the house, it was an old, unused sewer line and it appears the competitor never actually scoped our line but tried to con us into $22k of work.
Also, the cellar of our historic home was filling with water backing up from a seepage pit. This same competitor instructed us to a $10k sump pump installation which we knew was high to begin with. The Benjamin Franklin technician informed us that he thinks the seepage pit was filling up with ground water due to heavy rain and the constant runoff from hvac and dehumidifer were simply overflowing the pit. He recommended and installed a condensation pump to handle the runoff and since installed we have had no issues. He did state that we should consider a sump pump in the future but it is not an issue unless we continue to see more water in the cellar. It is this transparency that has led us to always recommending Benjamin Franklin and using them ourselves when issues arise.

I would not recommend Benjamin Franklin plumbing based on my experience. I contacted them because I was having plumbing issues and expected a clear, honest diagnosis. Instead, the plumber Anthony Dudley briefly listened to the pipes and told me that the issue was that the pipes were not anchored. He also looked at my hot water heater and suggested 400 to 500 dollar component that he said might fix the problem which did not give me confidence that he had accurately identified the issue. When I asked how much it would cost to anchor the pipes I was quoted $12,000. That seemed extremely high. So I sought additional opinions, I was told later that even replacing the plumbing throughout the entire home would likely cost no more than approximately $3500. I paid a $59 consultation fee, but I do not feel I received accurate or useful information. Another professional later resolved the issue by simply increasing the water pressure since it was low. He didn't charge me anything. That made it clear that the problem was not related to any pipes being unanchored. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience.I felt the explanation was unclear, the recommendation was uncertain and the twelve thousand dollar quote was unreasonable, based on the issue that was ultimately resolved. I would strongly encourage anyone considering Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to get a second opinion before agreeing to any repairs.
