I am extremely frustrated with my experience with Kintech Heating, Cooling & Plumbing. What started as a simple AC service has turned into multiple visits (4 visits in less than 2 months), multiple technicians, and over $1,600 spent, and my AC is STILL not reliably working.
My AC stopped working on June 13, so I contacted Kintech to diagnose the issue. I was charged a $180 diagnostic fee, and technician Mike performed a service and cleaning, which I was told would resolve the issue. The total cost of that visit was approximately $450. Unfortunately, the AC worked for only one day before stopping again.
I called Kintech back for the second visit, and a different technician, John, came out that same weekend. He told me that several parts needed to be replaced and that the repair would cost approximately $1,200. I was hesitant because I had already paid $450 for the initial service that supposedly fixed the issue. After discussing it with the company, specifically with Sam from the office. and being given more reassurance that the repair would resolve the problem, I decided to move forward.
The repair was completed on July 10. I was told the necessary parts had been replaced and that everything should be working properly. The AC did work—but only for about three weeks. On August 6, it stopped working again.
I contacted the office, and Sam told me that someone could come out to inspect the system “free of charge” since it had been less than 1 month since the $1,200 repair that I had done. I agreed. However, when the third technician, Pat, arrived, I was told that the capacitor needed to be replaced. I was then told there would be another $180 diagnostic fee, plus approximately $295 for the capacitor, and that this “should” fix the AC.
At this point, I was EXTREMELY frustrated.
This was now the third diagnostic visit with a different technician, and each time a new issue was identified. What made the situation worse was that I was specifically told this latest visit would be free of charge by Sam, only to be told after the technician arrived that I would be charged yet again another diagnostic fee.
I would have been completely understanding if I had been told from the beginning that my AC needed significant repairs or ultimately needed to be replaced. I even have a home warranty that could potentially have covered a replacement. What I am frustrated with is paying for multiple diagnostics and repairs, being told the system should be fixed, only for it to fail again shortly afterward and then being asked to pay for yet another diagnosis and repair. It has felt like a complete waste of time with them and a large headache.
At this point, I’ve spent well over $1,600 and still don’t have confidence that the AC will actually be fixed. Each visit has felt like another opportunity to identify another problem and ask me for more money, rather than actually resolving the underlying issue.
I understand that HVAC systems can have multiple problems and that repairs aren’t always straightforward. What I expected, however, was honest communication, consistency, and accountability for previous work—especially when a repair was presented to me as the solution and then failed only a few weeks later.
The most frustrating part is that I trusted the company each time and continued paying because I wanted the problem resolved. At this point, I feel like I’ve been taken advantage of as a customer.
I hope Kintech takes this feedback seriously and reviews how these service calls were handled, particularly the communication between the office and technicians and the fact that I was repeatedly given different diagnoses by different technicians.
I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before spending significant money on repeated repairs with this company.
