  I had a new central ac installed several months ago. It just stopped working on the hottest day of the year. There are no circuit breakers tripped. I called for emergency service and was told the earliest would be in 12 days!! totally unacceptable, during the worst heat wave of the year. They can't even connect me to technician who might help me diagnose the problem. Next day - They called the next day to apologize and sent someone (Fermin Gonzalez) who did an excellent job fixing the problem and explaining what to do if it happens again. Their web site advertises 24 hour emergency service, and that did not happen, but they did fix the problem the next day. However, that was after we spent several hours trying locate and fix the problem, and after we couldn't reach a technician to help us out over the phone.

  Arctic Mechanical installed my central A/C for my house about 4 years ago. They service it annually. The installation was seamless. The installation of the ducts was quiet and clean. The salesman for the job was Doug Harrison. He's a real gentleman and knows his way around A/C. The service is done by Nelson, and he's knowledgeable, professional, and pleasant to work with. And, he keeps to the appointment time and he works quickly. I would not hesitate to use Arctic again, though the products and service tell me I won't need to replace my system for a long time.

  I’ve been an Arctic maintenance customer for several years, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt when my AC failed during a heat wave this spring. That was a mistake. I called at 8am to report no AC on an 85 degree day. I was given a 12-4pm window. After 4pm, I caught a technician in my hallway leaving the building, he had completed a neighbor’s routine maintenance first. What made this especially frustrating is that last year, Arctic canceled my routine maintenance appointment to prioritize customers with no AC, which I understood. This time, with no AC myself, they did the opposite. He initially told me he wasn’t there for my unit. I had to flag him down to get seen. I paid $200 for a 20-minute visit with no confirmed diagnosis. He said he’d submit photos to the service team and they’d follow up. They didn’t. I had to call back, then escalate to sales just to get someone to track down the technician. It took a full week to get a quote, during which it was 95 degrees and 70% humidity in my apartment. The recommendation was either a full system replacement at $15,000 or a blower motor replacement at $2,300. When I called back to decide, I was told it would be at least two weeks before anyone was available. Another company came out, sourced the parts, and completed the repair in three days. One more thing: Arctic recommended replacing the blower wheel, citing rust. The technician who did the repair inspected it and showed me — no rust, no replacement needed. I raised my concerns with sales and never heard back. Draw your own conclusions.
