Nothing but good things to say about Ed Murray. The quote was very reasonable even after finding a few boards that needed to be replaced. The crew did a great job in a very timely manner. They did a thorough cleanup afterwards. It’s been about three months now and the roof looks great with zero issues.

The best experience I have had with a contractor ever! Left for work in the am and came back to a beautiful new roof. The crew cleaned up beautifully you wouldn't even know someone was at my house.

This is the second roof installation I’ve used Ed Murray roofing for (second house) and both time the company was quick to quote, they explained everything, set up a date quickly and did a great job on the day of the installation. They were clean, organized, quick and did a great job. Would definitely recommend them for any roofing need.
Frequently Asked Questions About Ed Murray Roofing Inc
What types of commercial roofing systems do you install?
We focus on commercial roofing solutions, including torch-down and single-ply membrane systems. These options provide durable, energy-efficient, and dependable protection for diverse commercial properties.
How do I know which roofing system is best for my building?
Selecting the ideal roofing system requires evaluating your building's structure, budget, local climate, and long-term performance objectives. Our team offers expert assessments and tailored recommendations to secure the most effective and cost-efficient solution for your property.
How long does a commercial roof typically last?
Commercial roofs generally have a lifespan of 10 to 12 years, influenced by the material, installation quality, and maintenance routine. Consistent inspections and upkeep can significantly extend this service life.
What are the most common causes of commercial roof failure?
While age and natural wear are the primary drivers of commercial roof failure, other critical factors often contribute. These include improper installation, insufficient maintenance, weather-related damage, and inadequate drainage systems.
Do you provide warranties on materials and labor?
Absolutely. We stand firmly behind our craftsmanship and provide comprehensive warranties covering both materials and labor. This ensures your investment is secure and gives you complete peace of mind.
How often should a commercial roof be inspected?
We recommend inspecting commercial roofs at least twice annually, ideally during spring and fall, plus immediately after severe weather events like storms or heavy snow. These routine checks allow for the early detection of minor issues, preventing expensive repairs later on.
What does a typical roof inspection include?
A standard roof inspection entails a thorough on-site assessment of your entire roofing system. The evaluation covers critical areas including:
• Leaks or signs of moisture intrusion
• Membrane damage or signs of deterioration
• Drainage efficiency and standing water (ponding)
• Flashing condition and the integrity of seals
• Seam quality and general wear and tear
Can regular maintenance extend the life of my roof?
Absolutely. Consistent maintenance is key to maximizing your roof's lifespan, as it allows us to identify and resolve minor issues before they evolve into major, costly repairs.
What are the signs that my roof needs repair or replacement?
Key indicators that your roof may need attention include:
• Water leaks or interior water stains
• Cracks, punctures, or blistering on the surface
• Standing or ponding water
• Loose, damaged, or missing flashing
When these issues are widespread, investing in a full roof replacement is often more cost-effective than continuing with repetitive repairs.
How quickly can you respond to roof leaks or emergencies?
We typically respond to leaks and emergencies on the same day. Our team will inspect the roof, pinpoint the issue, and perform the repair immediately if conditions allow.
Can you repair my roof, or do i need a full replacement?
The decision to repair vs replace is made on a case-by-case basis, since there are many factors that need to be considered, including the age and condition of the roof, the extent of the damage, and whether there is moisture trapped beneath the roof that is compromising the material underneath. Our team will assess the roof and present you with a recommendation tailored specifically to your property. Ultimately, however, it is up to the customer to make the decision.
Will repairs disrupt my business operations?
It would be unusual for roofing repairs to disrupt business operations.
How do I know when it’s time to replace my commercial roof?
Generally speaking, a commercial building owner will have spent a lot of time and money on repairs to the existing roof before it reaches the point where a replacement becomes necessary.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Roof replacement can take a few days to a few weeks, depending on several factors, including the size of the roof, how much equipment has to be moved (e.g., HVAC), and whether the old roof needs to be removed before the new one is installed. Our professionals will advise you on how much time your particular roof will take to complete.
Do you remove the old roof or install over it?
Putting a new roof over the old one is obviously a more budget-friendly option, but this is not always recommended due to the age and condition of the roof, the integrity of the decking that the roof is fastened to, and how many roofs are on the building. Two roofs are the most that are recommended.
How do I choose the right commercial roofing contractor?
When choosing a roofing contractor, make sure to use one who is fully licensed and insured for the work. There are several other considerations that could factor into your decision, such as:
- Length of time the company has been in business and at the same location
- Ability to provide several references upon request
- How long it takes to respond to questions via calls, texts, or emails.
What sets you apart from competitors?
Ed Murray Roofing is family-owned and operated and has been proudly serving Long Island’s business and residential customers for over 50 years. We have been around long enough that we have had many repeat customers who needed new roofs after we originally did their roofs 20-30 years ago.
How do you protect my property during installation?
For commercial buildings, all work areas are closed off using tape and/or cones. For residential buildings, we cover landscaping with tarps to catch debris and protect plants.
All debris and materials are removed following completion of the job.
What precautions are taken for weather delays?
Roofing work is generally not scheduled if rain is expected to avoid hazardous working conditions.
